RodneyBad Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 This is the Revell 67 GTX that was slightly converted to a 66 to replicate my dads ride. I stuffed in a AMT 69 RoadRunner 440 with daul Quads. Filled in the front turn signals on the bumper and put them in the center headlights now turn signals. Placed the chrome trim on top of the fenders. a few PE Mopar emblems on the rear pillars and passenger front fender. Built my own headers and 2 1/2'inch daul exhaust with flowmasters. Chevy rally wheels turned into Mopar Copcar wheels with chrome trimrings and poverty caps. And Yes, he has that Lovely Copper interior. Hope you enjoy. Thank you..
fordh8r Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Nicely done! It a very good likeness to your dad's car. Very clean build, I like it. Does your dad still have the car?
Harry P. Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 The '66-'67 Belvedere/GTX is one of my all-time favorite cars. Nice model!
Bernard Kron Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Really nice. Replica builds are real "high risk" modeling because the frame of reference is so exact. And you nailed it!
RodneyBad Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 Thanks for the comments. Yes My dad still has it and drives it on those nice sunny days but swapped to a single carb. I don't know why, the dual carbs looked soo much cooler and ran fine. He was running a taller tire in the rear for Drag racing but went to 60series tires all the way around. I liked the Rake of it then. I find 1:1s alittle easier than creating off the top of my head. If there is something to start with. Before I buy a car, I make sure there is a model of one
whale392 Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Beautiful build! no GTXs back in 66, but that is a killer Belvedere you have. My dad also owns (original, one owner) a 66 BelvedereII Hemi/auto that I am working on replicating (Turbine Bronze Metallic with the black bench interior). I love that car..............and yours looks great.
Spike Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 wait wait wait, you used CHEVY rims on a MOPAR, how dare you! j/k, howd you turn em into mopar sqaud rims? very nice build
RodneyBad Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 Okay, You got me Whale (no real name avil) It's a 66 Belvedere with 67 GTX trim. We did have a 66 Belvedere II with a Hemi (factory drag car 33k miles on it) and my Lil bro had one with a 6 then transplated a 318 V-8. The wheels are Chevy rally wheels and the only differance is the Chevy has 5 slots and Mopars have 6 slots Chevy wheels Mopar Cop car wheels I cut the rim off of the amt wheels and then cut a set of Revell/monogram chrome rims for the chrome rings to fit the revell tires.. Then use the center caps off of the Dodge DOH police car. Taa Daa.. Mopar Cop car wheels.
Spike Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 ok so they are still wrong the revell 70 GTX came with cop wheels n caps,,,if ya didnt know
RodneyBad Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) ok so they are still wrong the revell 70 GTX came with cop wheels n caps,,,if ya didnt know "O" I know but I only got 1 (surprise! ) But they looked Too big and too shallow. Mopar people always getting the short straw But They look the part and better in my book Besides, Very few people notice. Edited January 18, 2009 by Zukiholic
Spike Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 i just dug out a pair for my dads challenger im replicating, and added some trim rings i got from the parts box and they look a lot deeper and ya, us mopar guys do get the short stick, dam chebbys
RodneyBad Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 dam chebbys I dont say it I just believe that Chrysler is holding onto their licensing to tight. and that's why I hord my Mopar kits. But that is a whole nother story.
Spike Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 na, i dont think its chryslers licensing, cause if you look at 1:1 parts, any chebby parts are cheaper then any mopar parts, its BS.
