Ryan Quantz Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Hey guys, first post. I'm not new to the hobby, but I have yet to actually finish a car... Soon, very soon, that will change. I am building a 1968 Mustang 428 CJ. you know, the car that took the 1968 (?) Winternationals by suprise. I found an old magazine ad of the car as it was offered from the factory, with Wimbledon White paint and steelies with poverty hubcaps. I have decided to build it this way as opposed to the full drag versions that are famously photographed. Can anyone give me a manufacturer/website for someone who has a late 60's Ford poverty hubcap?? I think i can use the steelies from the 64 T-Bolt, and the engine from the 69 Shelby 500. But i need the hubcaps... I was checking out the new R-M Falcon or fairlane, i dont remember, and thought those hubcaps would suffice, but i dont think they're correct enough to pull it off. Perhaps if i get too involved (like i always do. Hence the reason i havent finished anything) I can scrap the engine/trans and make it a "barn find". But if anyone has any information on the hubcaps, as well as a direction where i can look to find exactly how they came from the factory, interior deletions/additions, etc. OH, also, any info on if there is a hood scoop I can get to match, if not i can make one out of sheet styrene. Thanks guys for the long read. I'm really excited to get pictures of this thing on here RQ
purplehornies Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Try The Modelhaus. http://www.modelhaus.com/ They have some 68 caps from a Torino. That might be close.
