Mike C. Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Finally finished with this challenging build. Here's some pics. 1
Mike C. Posted August 5, 2022 Author Posted August 5, 2022 (edited) I had to shine my little flashlight into the interior so that you could see the rifle and shotgun rack up on the wall. The carpeting is a little dark. I painted the sleeping bag blue because I can remember a blue one that I had as a kid. I have to thank Casey for the five slot mags. I was going to use the Ground Hawgs from the Revell Big Game kit, but I found these super swamppers that I forgot I ever bought. Pays to clean up your work bench every so often. I was thinking about mounting the lights on the roof but here on the east coast, you tend to have to deal with low hanging branches and thick brush, so they are sort of vulnerable up there. Maybe I should mud it up a little and add a little patina. Edited August 6, 2022 by Mike C.
Mike C. Posted August 6, 2022 Author Posted August 6, 2022 Thank you, Larry. I made the CB microphone cord and the CB antenna from an old round wound guitar string. The radio antenna is a sewing needle. You can get a pack of like 30 of them for a dollar at the dollar store.
Street Rod Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Turned out really good! I bought one of these kits but I don’t know if I will build it, probably gonna end up in the Trading Post.
Mike C. Posted August 7, 2022 Author Posted August 7, 2022 Thanks Doyle. I have an extra sealed one that I bought when MPC re issued the kit a few years ago. Gonna go on Ebay soon. I remember building the street van version of this kit when I was a kid, but I honestly don't remember it being so challenging. This thing fought me every step of the way. There were so many times when I just wanted to walk away from this one for my own sanity. It's a wonder it got finished at all. Down the line, I've got that vintage Revell 1/16 Chevy truck to take on. Got some plans for that one.
Mike C. Posted August 7, 2022 Author Posted August 7, 2022 Thanks guys! I'm thinking of mudding it up a little. That would be a good way to hide that unsightly glue smudge on the windshield.
