Guys, I 'm sorry that I haven't been here much the past few months. When it rains it pours. Things haven't been to good here since last year. One of my wifes sisters past away in October and it has been very bad here. My wife was very very close to her and it is still hard for my wife most of the time. She is slowly getting better, but it will take some time.

Two weeks ago my company laid off 76 employees and moved some of us to third shift. Then last Thrusday they laid 100 more off. So, this Friday is my last day. It has taken 30 some years to get a good job and only one year to get thrown out. I am really pissed to say the least, but what ya gonna do? I'm going to be 62 in March and I have two bad knees, one bad arm and 4 hurneated (spelling?)disks in my back right between the shoulders where they can't do anything. So, my chances of finding work are as close as you can get to nill. Well, I guess that uncle sugar can support me for awhile. Sorry for the ranting guys, it's just that I'm really in a low spot right now. I'll hope for the best, and keep my faith. Later Dan

Dan,

I totally understand and can sympathize with you. I have many of the same issues and

problems. It sure is a pleasure knowing you've given so much effort to a company, only being thrown out like part of the trash. Been there a couple times. I know, it's a business and there's no guarantees of having a job, but it's not pleasing nor tastes well.

I've been out of work looking for another job for about 7 months now. The small part time job (and I'm very thankful of that) doesn't pay many bills.

I'm really tired of the media telling us every minute what is so bad and never anything that might be positive. I don't like this situation we're in and it hurts giving up things we've worked hard for just to get by. Our decision makers have really screwed this country up. I know we're still better off than many people in the world.

Many people who are always so positive, are like us... one job and one decision away from being just like you and I.

I feel your pain, as they say, and I only can hope you get a break and it gets better you.

OK, putting up my soapbox, now.

Thanks Hondo. I appreciate it. I sure hope that the people in the right places start doing the right thing to help the people of this country and not waisting money on people who hate us. Right now I don't know what I'm going to do other than colect unemployement and look for another job. But with my other problems I really dought that I'll get another job. We'll see. Thanks again. I know how you feel too. I was laid off from my job as manager of a small 5 man auto repair shop back in September. I'm making it okay though because I have my retirement pay. But it's only enough to pay the bills...nothing there for extras. But even moreso is the feeling of uselessness for not having a job for the first time since I was 12 years old! (summers of course till I graduated high school)

Yeah I think those days of working in one place for 25/30 years and retiring are long gone (unless you get in with the government!). The longest job I ever held was 10 years. Other than that I've done all sorts of work through out my career just making ends meet. I now work for myself but I am lucky to have a skill that not many can offer here. But things are definitely in a slump at this time.

I feel for all you guys. Things are pretty bad right now for sure.

I hope things come around for you Dan, and when they start blaring about more job losses etc. on the TV, just turn it off!

Hi guys. I know what you mean. I consider myself laid off at work. I am in commissioned sales at Sears(appliances). The media has people so scared that they aren't spending thus I go to work and if I don't have a sale, I don't have a paycheck. Had 4 days in the last 2 weeks with nothing! As I said, laid off but going to work anyway. I think if the news would just lighten up a bit, people would relax and this country would get back on it's feet. I don't need to start every newscast with a chart showing the unemployed and how many people are out of work today. Tell me who is surviving and I know there are companies out there that are thriving. Lets talk about that. Good luck to all of us!
