Dr. Cranky Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 Cow? Milk? Oh, I get it? You want me to turn it into an ice cream rat rod!!! (Happy, I know what you are saying!) Just kidding with you.
rv1963 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Thanks for the info it really will help when i attempt to try the hinge myself.
CB Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 the TailChaser is looking mucho groovy, Doc ! I do gots to admit, I'm a bit chagrinned to hear the duallies may not be ........aw..........OH well..., it's lookin fine as is. Love the suspension you rigged up. And I did notice you seem to be running hot and cold? Youl just did a 'hot' Caddy trunk, and now you be doin' a 'cold' one! That narrowed Caddy rear end sure looks like it has possiblities of being a 'front' end
Dr. Cranky Posted February 7, 2009 Author Posted February 7, 2009 Thanks, yeah, I've been thinking about the possibility of using a rear end up front . . . today, if the temperature and weather hold, I will spraying primer. Oh, and no, the jury still out on the dualies . . . so don't give up hope. I haven't!!!
Bernard Kron Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Lookin’ outrageously good as always. Here are my wheel and tire candidates so far. The dualy idea is still possible . . . I'm trying out different things, but I want the big/little combination to get a better raked stance to the whole thing . . . Regarding the rake and the tire, wheel combo. IMHO if you run wide whites on the rear you’ll need fairly wide whites on the front, too. Also, unfortunately big and littles won’t bring the front end down enough to get the rake you’re looking for, I suspect. Maybe you should consider reducing that downward curve at the front of the rails. If I recall, it was designed to accommodate the Chevy parallel leaf springs, but with that transverse leaf you don’t need it. Can’t wait for more – but you build so fast that I know more good stuff will arrive shortly!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 I got most of the parts in primer . . . so TAILCHASER is getting one step closer to getting painted. Stay tuned in:
Jairus Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 "Prolific" I believe, doesn't even cover the speed at which you build V!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 Thanks, J, my doctor just told me I have a bad case of styrene-itis . . .
RodBurNeR Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Well, here's the trunk now . . . this is the part I like. I might use this on a build since I had thought of it a few times after seeing "Atomic Punk". I would probably do a roadster with mine and it would not be a rat rod though. Nice work on the rear caddy portion.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 Thanks for the comments, amigos . . . Here's some more progress . . . Okay, got the body painted and also installed the front grill which looked funny up so high, so I gave it a mudguard (I think it is more of a fitting mustache!) . . . I should just call it DIRTY OLD MAN!!! Yeap, it's definitely a MUSTACHE!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 Here are a couple of more pictures . . . I still have to add some braces from the chassis to the grill for a sturdier, more realistic look . . . ahem, oh yeah, like this is realistic, right? And of course all the trim to the back fins too!!!
Harry P. Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I think you should call this one "Groucho"... the "face" of it has a very familiar look...
Dr. Cranky Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 Oooh, I like that name, Harry, but then I'd have to put a cigar somewhere. Maybe by the beer in the back!!!
Bernard Kron Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Now it's really coming together. That blue/rust combo makes all the difference. Can't wait to see it on its wheels...
Raul_Perez Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Now it's really coming together. That blue/rust combo makes all the difference. Can't wait to see it on its wheels... I'll second that!! The colors look awesome!!
DR Dubois Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 This thing is looking way crazy cool! Being a truck and all I still liked the look of the duallies. Can't wait to see more!
juergen Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 hi !!! absolut imazing this built !!! the scratch building and your design - i love it !!!! the wathering looks also soooo fine !!!! i hope we can see more pics. greets jürgen

Dr. Cranky Posted February 13, 2009 Author Posted February 13, 2009 Thanks all for the comments. I really appreciate them. Here's the link to the Fotki, if you want to see more in-progress pics: http://public.fotki.com/vsuarez666/voodoo-...-1/skirtchaser/
RodneyBad Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Groucho.. Stick a Cigar in the Stash. really a Outstanding Job.. The Trunk is way cool er. Sweet stance. Liked the Duallie white walls. Just an Incredible Imagination..
Dr. Cranky Posted February 13, 2009 Author Posted February 13, 2009 Well, I've been stalling on the engine a little hoping to get a set of white walls that's headed my way. I am going to try the dualies on this one and see what it looks like, and I will do the same for EL RATCHERO. Stay tuned in . . . and thanks for all the comments.
evilone Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Remember its a customized caddy pick up truck LOL.Looks real good bro i would love to learn how you did the weathering on it maybe at the NNL West you could show me in person.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 14, 2009 Author Posted February 14, 2009 LOL. One of these fine days I will make it out there, buddy, and I'd love to show you and anyone else who might be interested. I am doing a little how-to presentation at the show in BAMA this year, on March 7th in fact. Maybe someone will video tape it and then post it on You Tube!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 14, 2009 Author Posted February 14, 2009 Here's some progress. I tested a few sets of dualies on this puppy and I didn't like that wide wide look to the back. I think people should be able to reach that beer cooler form the sides . . . Here's the mock up of what I got so far. I gotta knock the shine off the chromer and the visor which has a film of Future clear on it where I pun some pinstriping . . . . I still have a while to go on this thing, and I haven't even done the interior or engine yet!
