ChrisPflug Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I guess being fortunate enough to have a 1:1 '70 Challenger R/T in the garage makes me that much more disappointed in the shortcomings of the Challenger kits available . Have the Vanishing Point kit from when it was first released but haven't assembled it- probably will end up robbing some parts though The Challenger R/T came with a 383 Magnum standard and the 440 Magnum (4 barrel), 440 Six Pack, and 426 Hemi optional. The 340 4 barrel was available in a package very similar to the R/T and the T/A, of course only came with the 340 Six Pack
Chuck Most Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I have seen them at $22.95 all around here. I think I would pass on it if I couldn't find it cheaper. I got that '68 mustang 2'n1 kit for $15.99, so I know that some are trying to stay competitive with e-sales. I am hoping that 1977 Pontiac Trans Am is next on the diecast to plastic list. That was an awesome kit, complete with the Bandit's hat and a CB. I got one for $16.99 at my local K-Mart, and just picked up another one as a parts donor at my LHS for about a buck and a half more. The '68 Mustang prices out about the same at both places around where I live. Still paying out the arse for the "Special Edition" kits like the '64 Fairlane, but it seems like the shops are keeping the regular Revell issues like the Jeep CJ-7, '41 Chevy pickup, and '50 Ford F-1s prices in check.
Chuck Most Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 (edited) since Revell has already totally and completely screwed up the AAR not once but twice do you really think they should give it another shot? it's either third times the charm or three strikes and your OUT! given the track record so far it dont look good. the '57 Chevy kits however have gotten better and better as time and technology have progressed. '32 Fords? Revell hands down has the best ever with thier series. we can only keep our fingers crossed on the "new" Olds Cutlass convertible kit coming Dave Well- I guess you have a point about the AAR 'Cuda... maybe we'll give the new AMT a crack at that one! As for the '57 Chevys... they're like the black death. I still think the old AMT kit was the best example ever. The '32 Fords by Revell- In my opinion, there STILL aren't enough variations on this one! (Fordor sedan and/or Deuce pickup, anyone?) I'm still hoping for the drop-top Cutty as well... AND the '87 Supreme. Don't care if it has a pancake engine or not- I want it! Edited August 22, 2009 by Chuck Most
