I had a relatively successful start with my Revell '69 Chevelle, then a small mistake happened during polishing the clear coat.

The repair ended with a disaster although I used the same colour out of the same jar to repair the damage, the colour didn't match. The worst thing had to be done: stripping a decaled and ford body. I contacted Revell for a replacement decal sheet.

While waiting Revell to reply, i switched to the '68 kit. I loved the gold shade of an old rim paint I had. The results were terrible. Rough, grainy and dusty.

After stripping the paint three times I decided enough with experiments, no more no name brands, no more colour mixing experiments (I am not good at that), no Tamiya acrylics for exterior. Simply revert back to what I could master so far.

The paint is an automotive grade repair paint with no specific manufacturer's designation. decanted and airbrushed. It is more beige in reality than that silver shown here. It is not an exact match of Chevy ash gold, but with little imagination and in certain lighting conditions it looks close.

First mist coat applied. I will probably mix it with some grey for the interior to offset the colour a bit. I know Chevelles had probably black interiors, but black interior are really boring in scale. Given the series of failures I had with this kit, I will go really sloooooww.
