I have a tough act to follow with Jim Drew, David Thibodeau, and several other fine builders that have preceded me on the build of this kit, but I know I am in good company. As the title suggests, I am building 3 SMS C6-R's. I am trying to get them finished so that I can enter them in the Modelmania Houston Contest on April 4th. There are several inaccuracies in the R/M kit, but I am only going to correct the most blatant. One of the mods will require me to keep the hood closed on two of the examples, but I will modify one of the three so that with the hood removed, it does not detract from the accuracy.

I am building both Bad Boy cars, as well as the Ron Fellows #3 from Sebring 2007.

Enjoy the pictures :)

Cool! I'll follow these. I have plans for the Ron Fellows car as well.

The inaccuracies are because the kit represents the show car.

I did the #4 car from Atlanta 2006.

Thanks,

A quick update.

I cut the back out of the under trays where a grill goes for the A/C condenser cooling. I purchased 3- Fan kits from Detail Master, and I am going to use some spare 1/20th scale radiators for the A/C condensers. I botched up one of the trays while hacking it up, so I need to repair it. The Vette on the Left will be the Ron Fellows Sebring version. This version did not have the additional cut out between the body and the under tray like the Bad Boy Vettes did(on the right).

Tonight I filled in the incorrect rear wing locating holes, measured, marked, and started cutting the new slots in the correct location. I painted and assembled the brakes and wheels. I used Alclad II Semi-Matte Aluminum on the wheels.

Not much progress lately, just cleaning up the bodies, and tinkering with different assemblies.

I got the two Bad Boy Vettes shot with Black and Yellow last night. I used Zero paint. I opted for the Zero Brand, because they color matched the Yellow to the SMS decals. I noticed this morning that the demarcation lines that the instructions show do not match up correctly with the way the decals are printed. I am going to have the touch up the top rear portion so the decals work correctly.

Enjoy the pictures.

The painting instructions that come with the Scale Motorsport Bad Boy Decals are "WAY OFF"...........

When I get the back end of these things repainted, I will show the before and after pictures, so that no one makes the same mistake I did.

I got the first initial coat of clear on the Bad Boy Vettes, and I placed two decals on tonight. I included pictures of the first paint scheme as per the SMS Bad Boy Decals. The instructions are incorrect in this area as you can see by the pictures that follow. I worked on the interior of the Ron Fellows car tonight. I still need to add CF to areas of the drivers office, as well as a few etched pieces.

I failed to mention that when I was posting my WIP on the #4 car. It took me a few minutes of comparing the decal diagram and the 1:1 picture I had to determine where the mask was going to go. I'm really liking what you're doing thus far with all of them. I can't wait to see them done. Unfortunately, I can't justify spending $40 for the correct wheels you and Jim have done. Keep up the good work!

Well:

I took some great pictures of the Ron Fellows Body on a 50% completed chassis.

Looking good. I'm really curious to see the paint before and after. I really appreciate your effort in helping point out the little miss cues on the sheet. It'll certainly help me out when I get to building mine.
