CB Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Well, John, looks like you Found it On the Road, Dead ........Now put it back together! Looks mighty fine to me! Back in 1971, my Dad had a '54 or '55 3/4 ton Ford pu that had the same exact kinda paint job ! Love the wood!
James Flowers Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Looks like you got the hang of it. Looks great so far.
Fletch Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I suggest you keep going! It looks great!! Like James suggested Keep going. Coming from James, who is in my book the king of weathered, that is great advise. Looking forward to seeing this progress.
Hillbilly Deluxe Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 Hey Guys What would be the correct chassis color on a truck from this era? Also blue motor and black plug wires or would the plug wires be yellow? Thanks HD
diymirage Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Hey Guys What would be the correct chassis color on a truck from this era? Also blue motor and black plug wires or would the plug wires be yellow? Thanks HD not a cleu on the peroid correct awnser but as far as wires goes, i would do mostly yellow and one or two black, make it look like someone was forced to replace one or two
James W Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 For chassis color, start with a base of red oxide primer, then some washes of light brown for dirt build-up. The muffler(s)would be more rusty less dirty so use a wash of rusty brown/orange. The engine region of the frame would be oily black for all the engine leaks. Google some old car frames for inspiration.
