jsc Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Has anyone built a truck using Jimmy Flinstone's rollback bed? I just got mine from Model Roundup. The casting is great, but I was hoping it would fit on the Wedge chassis. It's way longer! What could I use? Thanks! John
TarheelRick Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 I am not familiar with the chassis of the Wedge. If it is the one piece unit modified from the pick-up kit then it will require quite a bit of further modification to work. Most rollbacks I have seen have dual rear tires unlike the set-up for the Wedge. Again, if it is the one piece unit you may be able to slice the chassis off right behind the back of the cab and scratchbuild a new rear chassis segment to fit the rollback. You would also need a longer driveshaft, one ton or better rear axle, and a set of dualies. I would suggest trying to find one of the earlier Ford 1-ton pickup kits, or maybe wait for the release of the Chevy 3500 I have been hearing about. Either way good luck with your build.
jsc Posted August 25, 2023 Author Posted August 25, 2023 Thanks. I've done a rollback with that method with good results. "The Racer's Wedge" actually has dual axles, but the first axle is sized for a pickup bed. It wasn't exacltly in my plans, but I'll make it work!
