eldo60 Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 I've tried different clearcoats and they all were ok. i want to know has anyone in this group ever decanted any clear before, i have heard and read Duplicolor has a 1K clear available and i want to shoot through an airbrush instead of a rattle can trying to take my just ok painting skills to another level i mostly use automotive paints laquers and acrylics
Dpate Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 (edited) I’m pretty sure decanting it will work the same as decanting any other paint. Might have to thin it a little, but there’s plenty of 1K airbrush ready paints you can buy without decanting. Edited August 27, 2023 by Dpate 1
JET. Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 Duplicolor is not what it use to be and it’s expensive. I tried a can of that 1k and it doesn’t dry very hard and then the can doesn’t spray or it leaks all over the nozzle.. If your gonna airbrush use like Mr.color gx100 I’ve never had any problems with it and it dries super hard and quickly. Ever since I switched entirely to hobby paints I’ve had zero paint issues and saved tons of money.
JollySipper Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 I use the DupliColor 1K clear.... right from the can, though. It's kind of a bear to work with! Every time I've had to stick foil or tape to it, it wants to lift off the paint..... Could just be me, but it's happened several times. At over $20 a can, I could be getting two cans of Tamiya clear and get better results. I'm thinking about dumping some of the DC stuff, tho (not their primer, it's still a good product...) and just switching to hobby paints, myself!
eldo60 Posted September 4, 2023 Author Posted September 4, 2023 Thanks guys, I'll probably go with Tamiya for now
