Modellpularn Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 (edited) This car might be considered a Trans Am race car by you guys. And I was thinking of building one of the first Penske cars. I have the decals to do the #36 car. But we are starting a model racing series over here, and so I thought about building something that raced on our tracks in the 60's. It will be red. I've gutted the inner fenders: Next up was some flared fender lips. I was thinking of using these in front of the car, but naahh, wrong! So I cut into the wheel wells, and sanded the final shape, using a Humbrol tin with a piece of coarse sandpaper wrapped around it. Works great! When I was satisfied with the shape, I cut pieces of Evergreen strip and glued them in place at an angle. I've now cut the excess plastic, and trown some putty on the flares, to blend everything. Sanding comes later..... Edited March 4, 2009 by Modellpularn
Modellpularn Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 (edited) Putty applied and sanded. It's shaping up now. Need to apply some more putty, and more sanding. Edited March 9, 2009 by Modellpularn
Modellpularn Posted April 16, 2009 Author Posted April 16, 2009 (edited) It's painted now. I've also added the black stripes, and some numbers. Still have to add some sponsor decals, and clearcoat. Those pics will come later..... Here's with the stripes and numbers, tires trued: Edited April 18, 2009 by Modellpularn
Modellpularn Posted April 28, 2009 Author Posted April 28, 2009 Here's how it looked on raceday. I need to make some chassis adjustments, ride height, guide flag etc, to make it really fly!
george 53 Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Nice job Hans. Those flares are so subtle you can't really tell they're there. The rear flares are more noticeable, but nice and blended too. It looks GREAT! Keep it up Daddy-O,she's looking VERY nice!!!
Modellpularn Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 (edited) Thanks George! I'll give you another angle to look at.... I'm very pleased myself how it turned out. Like I said before, it needs some "minor adjustments", like BMF etc. Edited April 29, 2009 by Modellpularn
george 53 Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Hans, it IS a racecar, so I would think just the window trim an door handles would need foiling. The rest of it looks GREAT as is! GREAT JOB Kidd-O I likeses it!
Modellpularn Posted September 21, 2009 Author Posted September 21, 2009 I forgot to show the lineup of racecars in this class. We raced April 25th.
