Anybody done any of the big 1/16 scale Koenig Specials model kits from Fujimi? I'm tempted to do one but dont' think my skills are good enough to get a high-quality finish that would make it worthy to have in the first place!

I would love to be able to purchase one and have it come out as nice as some of the die-cast models. If you've done any, could you please post pics in your reply?

Nothing really special with these kits except that they're 1/16 scale. They have been around for a while and have been reissued several times. They can be pricey for what they are. Other than that, they build up nice. Unfortunately I gave all mine away and don't have any pictures of them. If you have built a Tamiya kit or a Fujimi kit, you could build these cars. They do need some work; some slight fit issues.

Thank's, I'd just hate to spend so much money on a kit and have it turn junk. It's only worth it if I can get a high-quality die-cast like finish. I guess most of that depends on how much time and patients I spend on it. Seems like the bigger ones would be easier than the smaller ones as the parts are bigger! I've built several of Fujimi's 1/24 scale Koenig Specials models and loved'em. Their engine bay is a bit tricky though with all the downpipes going to the exaust tips, but each one I've built I learned a new trick.

I just need to get my paint really nice and smooooooooooooooth!

Yes I've built that kit before. That was the one that fell off the shelfe and broke, hence posted in the "unicorn" thread.

I think the larger 1/16 scale is of the first version of this modified Testarossa and not of the second version. First one look's a little more stock than second version where as the second version look's like it was cross bread with the Ferrari F-40 as you see in your picture. You can see the F-40 resemblance more in the hard-top version than in the convertible version.

Boy, oh boy. I sure am tempted by these awesome kit's. Confused about one thing though. In both ebay descriptions, their listed as 1/18 scale? But aren't these larger kit's really 1/16 scale? Never knew 1/18 was available or is this a mistake cause the seller doesn't know much about it perhaps?

Also, as I dont' have an airbrush, how can I get these gorgeous glossy red reults?

Appearntly, there are kit's of both Koenig Competition "Testarossa" versions in 1/6 scale.

That's not an F-40. That is their modification of the Ferrari Testarossa which they nicknamed the Competition. It has twin turbo's PLUS supercharger pumping out close to 1,000 horses. In my opinion, it look's way better than the F-40. But yes, gorgeous models and I hope to accomplish same results whenever I purchase and build mine.

I have a built 1/16 Fujimi 1/16 Koenig TR. It does not have the F40-style rear wing. I got it as a builtup off ebay a while back. The roof was smashed down a bit and one of the rear wheels/tires is missing. I threw it away a couple of days ago, but I dug it out before writing this. If you want it, just pay for postage and I'll send it to you.

Think of it as a cheap canvas for practicing painting. Heck, scratchbuild the wing and sail-panel scoops. Let me know if you want some sheet plastic for those parts.

edit: with a smooshed roof, just cut it off and make the Spyder!

Koenig-Specials made two versions of the Testarossa. The one your describing without the F40-style rear wing was their first one. That one for some reason is the odd scale 1/16. The second version which they dubbed the Competition, is available as 1/18 scale model.

I would be interested in it, but would rather have a complete kit. Thank you though!

sorry, thats how good it looks. :)

If you dont' know these cars, it can be confusing. However, some clues that it's a Testarossa and not F-40. Look at the hood, the F-40's rounder, and it's headlights are bigger and not as square. Second, look at the side air-intakes. The F-40 has tiny little triangular ones similar to that of the Countach, but not as big. The KS-Competition's is simply the Testarossa with the fin's removed. I beleive what KS did when building the Competition, is practically re-skinned the Testarossa, widening it, and giving it more cooling intakes/outakes. Plus, I think their body-kit's are kevlar. Being 80's, could be fiberglass as well, but I beleive they were ahead of their time and made it out of kevlar.

The other difference is that the F-40 does not have those intakes at the corner's behind the side window's.

Pic's side by side.

I love'em both, but the KS Testarossa Competition has always been my fav.

Hi there Kustoms. For KS Porsches, they have a 911, and an awesome 928. I've seen the 911 available at HWJapan, but not sure where to find the 928, it seems to be much more rare.

As for references for 1:1 scale, try Koenig's web site.

http://www.koenig-specials.com/homepage%20...%20englisch.htm

I have no idea about the wheels however, sorry. Hope this helps.

For 1/24 scale references, here are the following KS models.

KS-Testarossa Competition

KS-Testarossa Competition spyder

KS-Mercedes Benze 500 SL

KS-Porsche 928

KS-Porsche 911

KS-Lamborghini Countach

KS-Lamborghini Diablo

I've seen the Testarossa and Mercedes models available in both black and red, and the Testarossa in white.

There are several 1/16 and 1/18 scale models including

KS-Ferrari 355

KS-Ferrari 512 BB

KS-Testarossa version 1

KS-Testarossa version 11 "Competition"

KS-Lamborghini Countach

Then their are 1/43 scale resin and pre-built model's from BBR

mostly the same cars but I have seen the KS Ferrari 360 Modena done as well.

When you build'em, please post here? Thank you! As you can tell, I'm a big big fan of KS!

Do you have pic's of the 928? Is it still new in kit form or did you build it already? I'm interested in buying from you if it's new in kit form. It's one of my favorite models as it is easy to put together and look's awesome. Thinking of painting it in Boyd's Chezeal Teal Pearl color, it's a nice dark green..........maybe I'll use that on one of my MR2 kit's.

As this thread is becoming more for Koenig Specials models and less 1/16, this should be under a different catagory. Nevertheless, I just purchased from ebay three 1/24 KS models.

The Koenig Specials Testarossa Competiton

The Koenig Specials Testarossa Competition spyder

and the Koenig Specials Lamborghini Countach.

Thought I should grab those three while still available................................

Still looking for the KS Mercedes 500 SL

KS Lamborghini Diablo,

KS Porsche 911, and,

KS Porsche 928.

Nice build on that 911! Me likes! I'll get some pics for yea.

Koenig didn't do to much to the Countach. Minor differences are the side skirts, and a differently styled rear wing. This I think actually look's better than the stock Countach.

reference, here are the other two kit's I purchased.

i wish i can get a set of the testarossa you got, for the 1/16 scale ks testarossa. i like that style better than the 80's bbs wheels.

I was just searching through HWJapan and noticed they had it listed, but sold out. AND! I also discovered that they do NOT accept PayPal.

Yes, yes they do accept pay-pal. In fact they prefer pay-pal. You must have had some problems logging in or when you got to the cart you didn't hit the right button. Anyway, yeah, they do accept pay-pal.

I do have the Fujimi Koenig Lamborghini Countach, one of the first 1/16 scale kits I picked up way back when. Haven't built it yet, just waiting for old age and time. Should be fun.

Those Revell Premium kits are sweet but spendy. I'm still looking for an 850i.

Hopefully with the re-issue of the M-B 560 SEC we'll see the other premium kits come out.
