Stanward VonDiederichs Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 (edited) I just recently bought this kit I originally bought it for another kit the motor I wanted a Rochester fuel injection system but after I open the kit and took a look at it I decided not to use it for this other kit I was going to build it. Here are some photos after it's been painted and a clear coat put on it. I remember when this kit first came out I bought it at that time I thought it was a pretty neat kit the only thing I didn't like is the way they designed the axles that go through the motor and I really didn't care the way the top half of the motor went together this is definitely old AMT. I did use DupliColor paint Edited January 19, 2024 by Stanward VonDiederichs 2
espo Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 I also remember this kit and built mine in a Candy Apple Red at the time. You're correct about the engine, but that was the way it was done at the time. As for axels on these old kits I have been making a filler part for the engine and using a wire or brad in the correct diameter as an axel. Your color here looks great with a smooth finish.

ESPO thanks for the compliment! This kit has fought me all the way through the interior pod doesn't fit right there's no way to glue it in on the back side so I'm going to have to make amount for it to fit the rims to wide for the body I'm putting stock tires on it with the mags. I'm building this the way I remember 60 Corvettes look like on the streets back then I'm doing it in an everyday used vehicle and not a showpiece. 1
