Dingo Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Back when I was a kid in the late 50's my dad drove one of these little rigs delivery rolls of paper to the local newspaper printer, it was rather cold & wet in winter but he did not complain and got the job done. In the 60's it needed a new motor so it was fitted with a motor of that era rather than have it's original motor repaired. A replica of my Dad's 1926 Mack AC with rolls of paper on the back
fordh8r Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 It takes a real man to drive a truck like that! While he may not have complained during the wet season I'd imagine they must have done something to keep the paper dry. Nonetheless, your build looks great!
dwc43 Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Nice truck. Believe it or not, we have a Mack similar to that one on display at our main fire station. It was one of our fire trucks for many years. They restored it and built it's on little room on the side of the main fire house.
SpreadAxle Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 This is a nice tribute to your father. Good looking build. What engine did he manage to fit under the hood when he re-powered it?
Dingo Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 Fordh8r the black roll on top of the cab represents the tarp he use to cover the paper & FlatbedKW I'm not sure what motor he used but I think it was some sart of small diesel motor out of a them Jap truck but as I said I'm not sure I was only a kid about 8-10 yrs old at the time and I wasn't into trucks then.
