fshoemake Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Does anyone know of anybody who may have or can make a set of decals for the stepside gmc pickup John Baker drove on the series? I know they made a kit back in the day but that thing is pricey if you can find it.Im going to make my own from another kit but I need decal help
Leo64 Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 I've not seen anyone offering those decals, and doing a search for full size trucks during that year I don't think they were a factory option. They were most likely put on by the production company for the show. When I looked up a pic of the old model kit you mentioned, it looks like the decals were different than the truck in the show, and the model kit was a fleetside instead of a stepside bed. Some people have suggested contacting STS Scale Model Decals, as they offer custom decal designs. Looking at pics of the real truck, it might be possible to just mask it off and paint the stripe also. Would take some time to lay it out, but it could be done. Steve A.
Can-Con Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 (edited) I'd just tape them off one at a time and airbrush it. Super easy, all strait lines. Edited June 12, 2024 by Can-Con
fshoemake Posted June 14, 2024 Author Posted June 14, 2024 Yeah after looking at the revell kit compared to the truck on the show I did quickly realize the difference in the trucks. Which also made the stripes off as well.i was leaning towards taping off and painting them.it would look better anyway. Thanks for your input guys it's much appreciated
Leo64 Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 I wish I could have helped with some decals, but again you might just check with STS as I've heard they do some nice custom decals. One thing about the truck stripes that I'm not sure if you knew about. In almost all the pics I saw online, they didn't show the hood too well, but I found 2 pics that show it looks like there is some stripes on there. I hope this info helps you out. Steve A.
