rattle can man Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 My local library has a 3d printer that can be used by anyone for $5. I am not sure about what printer and resin they use. Just take a memory stick with the files (your own or purchased) and they will help you set it up to print. The limit is no more than 3 hours of print time per print. I plan on trying it next week and will post an update once I do it. 3 1

Its good if they're using resin, but most libraries only have FDM because they don't have fumes and are considered safe.
rattle can man Posted June 29, 2024 Author Posted June 29, 2024 They have an Ultimaker 3 printer and use PLA.
bobss396 Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 My son's girlfriend works at a library where they design and print stuff. She mentioned Tinkercad, which I tried out to draw something. I have to ask her is they give classes in it.
rattle can man Posted July 1, 2024 Author Posted July 1, 2024 I don't believe my library has classes on how to create the files. But they do help you set up the print. You supply the files. 1

I started with TC and worked up to a std CAD program. https://www.tinkercad.com/dashboard/designs/3d Its fairly easy to use. You can also copy someone else's design and build off of it. There may be some vids on YouTube. There's also folks on Cults3D that sell files specifically for FDM printing. 1
