Perspect Scale Modelworks Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 I haven't been faced with this yet but was wondering, if I screw up a paint job on a 3d printed body, how would I strip it? Do the usual products, purple pond, oven cleaner, brake fluid, Detol, etc., haveĀ an effect on the resin? Or is it easier to just print another body? Has anyone stripped a 3d printed body?
stitchdup Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 do you use the alcohol resin or water washable? i use the alcohol wash and its as easy as putting it in a tank for an hour and scrubbing with a toothbrush. i use my waste alcohol from washing the prints too. if the alcohol has lots of resin bits in it you can leave them to settle on the bottom before starting. dont leave small parts for too long either as they will not last too long. i forgot a set of wheels and they absorbed the alcohol and came apart but that took a few days
Perspect Scale Modelworks Posted July 28, 2024 Author Posted July 28, 2024 I'm currently using water wash resin. So you're saying the alcohol will strip paint from the printed parts? What type of paint are you using?
Perspect Scale Modelworks Posted July 28, 2024 Author Posted July 28, 2024 Sorry moderators. This was supposed to go in the 3D printing thread. Please move it if possible. ThanksĀ
stitchdup Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 i'm not sure if the water washable is safe to clean in alcohol. i only use the alcohol wash resin
