Corvette.Jeff Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 (edited) After seeing Davids charger pro touring car, it really got me motivated to build one for myself. Only im a Chevy fan not a mopar fan so i have two choices as to what car i want to build. I have either a 69' yenko camaro, or a 55' nomad I know, not your average pro touring cars! the engine i plan to use i got out of the amt 57' 'vette flip nose, so no matter what car i use it wont be underpowered but what do you guys think would be cooler to see? the camaro, or the nomad? If i were to choose the nomad, it would have a darbon fiber hood, and most lilkely a cf dash and other little details, it would be sporting the 427 from the camaro though. if i chose the camaro it would have the cf hood and a cf boot panel. along with a modified formula one wing, along with racing seats, and mayb e a nice nos setup Both cars require about the same amount of work to complete. But i leave the final decision to you guys! p.s. If i choose the nomad the camaro will become a dragster and if i choose the camaro, the nomad becomes stock Here's a couple of pictures. Final ride height will be a little lower. thats about how itll sit Thanks,Jeff Edited April 19, 2009 by ThatOneEmoKid

Love the stance and wheels on both. Looking forward to what you decide, and watch as you progress. Well, we're waiting......
GOTH KUSTOMS Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Well I myself have started a '69 Yenko Camaro, lowering the front, so I myself would say the Camaro, but there your builds, and each one has it's pluses and minus's, and the wheel combination are dead on, I think you got a great start, any choice you make....
09WNS/14BRK Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 nomad would look good as a dragster mind you both would good luck what ever you chose mate
Corvette.Jeff Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 a litte update I chose the camaro, the nomad was going to take way to much work to get the front end together(sorry no pictures) I started working on the crossmember, man this thig takes alot of work to fit those wide tires! i still havent started on the rear end, thats gonna be a headache! I also started shaving off all the trim(it needs to be slick to reach those speeds above 200! I may do a wide body kit on the back end so i dont have to redo the axle, but id have to wait to g get some more for sale signs to make it I also made the wing, but i think it should be a little wider so i may do it. thats all for now, just waiting for glue to dry
gilsdropshop1 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 i like them both whatever you pic, would be cool just build them please!!!!!
Corvette.Jeff Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 an update! I got the camaro standing on all fours by itself enough talky talky more picture picture! Just for the heck of it i stuck a v10 out of a viper in it heres a picture of the bottom(note once i start to paint ill atacth all the springs and stuff with filler) im still figuring out the diffy. i did forget to mention something, this will be the first model ive built since i was about 8 or nine, and im 18 now.lol well its time to go to bed, ive been up all night making sure the wildfires dont come around the house yes wildfires in texas
Corvette.Jeff Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 I do still have a little more trim to shave and then i have to go pick up some more filler and for sale signs so i can start on the body kit, then its off to paint! after asembly of course
RodneyBad Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 A MOPAR powered Chevy, I like it. Since you now have a Parts Viper. What about stuffing the Viper Rear diff in there?
Corvette.Jeff Posted April 11, 2009 Author Posted April 11, 2009 haha, I just stuck that in there to see if it would fit(that thing barely fits! its a monster!) I could use the viper rear end, it would need it to hold down that power
Corvette.Jeff Posted April 11, 2009 Author Posted April 11, 2009 I dont know if any of you guys are car guys here and watch all the stuff they put up on the internet but a while back there was a kid here in Tejas that stuck a 2jz ad a five speed in a 69' base camaro I dont think i saved the link when i saw it though
Corvette.Jeff Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 A small update, I found out i dont have to work tomorrow! so i finally get to spend a little time starting on the body work for this thing! I'll post some pictures later
evilone Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 My two cents do both as a protouring. The camaro could look like the one that was on BULLRUN and the nomad just make it clean and simple .
Nate Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Looks great so far. Take a look at putting the Z06 Corvette engine in it. That would add to the pro-touring scheme. Where in Texas do you live? I'm in the Dallas area. We have a club that meets in Irving. Check us out at www.themcma.com
Corvette.Jeff Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 (edited) I live about an hour and a half away from dallas, I doubt youv'e ever heard of Granbury though Iv'e thought about doing a full z06 swap, like tourque tube and all, but the closest place that sells models is hobby lobby in fort worth. Ordering online is an option, but where are some good stores to buy from? I got the camaro and nomad from Rpp hobby, and i ordered a ramunition monster truck from hobby link(not hobby link japan). and ive searched on google for some, but all that comes up is diecrap stuff. Corvette.Jeff Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 My two cents do both as a protouring. The camaro could look like the one that was on BULLRUN and the nomad just make it clean and simple . The nomad got a visit from a very sharp friend last night when i got a crazy idea I chope the rear section off of the top and made it an elcamino, iDont really know where its going but maybe a concept 55'? they really shoulda' started the elcamino earlier than 59'. I could still do a protouring thing with it, and maybe make it a hauler for the camaro
Corvette.Jeff Posted April 19, 2009 Author Posted April 19, 2009 well ive been busy, i got most of the chassis done just gotta wait for some more paint and put in the fuel cell, and im waiting on a c6 corvette so it can sacrifice its drive train, hmmm what to do with that? anyways heres a picture of where its at right now sitting on my work bench waiting on parts i'm definatley not keeping that 427 in there, so ya'll dont worrie about that Jeff.
