Gary,  Love the change in direction with the scratch built box!!!

As always,  really clean and neat building going on here.

Nice to the upgrade on the tools!  Like others here, looking forward to your use of the rivets.

Randy

Thanks Randy, I seem to have a short coming, being unable to accept kits quality and trying to define improvements. I have to finish the rear door/hinges, then I can attach the rear plate to the box, finish the body work, then rivets. I have never done rivets a such a large scale, a first. So this could be awesome or another project that gets thrown into my box of bad ideas.

I doubt that! Your skills are fascinating and the scratch build of the box is just awesome!

Keep going! I don't believe that your multiple skills include messing up!

Can I get some feedback from you guys. The top hinge is the original I made (looks a bit bulky), the bottom hinge is .010 thinner but I added a center rib because I am afraid it will flex and break the glue joint. IMG_2103.jpeg.090698c96ac92ae3936d80e13e8449ef.jpeg

requires more finish work but you get the idea. Does it need to be longer, reach further out into the door. Appreciate any feedback.

I think your self made hinge looks pretty good! Not at all bulky! The additional rib on the other one looks  very authentic. Why not add that to the self made one?

If it needs to reach further into the door depends on the power your glue has got!

Just for looks I wouldn't make it longer! But that's my opinion!

In my opinion, with your addition of the strengthening rib, and the fact that you intend to put three hinges on each door, the weight of the doors shouldn't stress the hinges enough to make them fail.  I think where the hinge plate attaches to the hinge barrel will be the weakest point - even so, with three hinges, each door should work well.

Gary I think your hinge looks really good, but maybe a little longer and one or two more? This trailer has 5 hinges, and a quick look about , most have at least 4 and most have 5, not sure how detailed you want to get or how much work you want, but this just may make the waters a bit more muddy.....:P

Thanks guys for taking time to give me feedback. Going to build the hinge with the rib, I will use four hinges per door as the box is shorter than a semi trailer.

Need to make the latches top and bottom for each door, next. IMG_0403.thumb.jpeg.0f3358f9752fcb05aaf4ea6fd6661cc2.jpeg
will not glue latch assembly on doors until after paint, doors will be painted white with an aluminum color around the perimeter of each door, latch will be painted aluminum then attached. I should be able to slide the decal under the latch for the beer logo.

Wow, these little parts are a pain with my old fat fingers. I think everything is made for the back doors, if I am missing something please speak up. Now I can attach the rear door panel to the box and start finishing the box.

didn’t loose any tiny bolts this time?, only made the door latches three times trying to get the correct size.

Looks great. I remember the draywagons delivering beer barrels in UK had a stuffed sack that they used to throw on the floor and would drop the barrels onto the sack then roll them down the hatch in the floor to the cellar. You've got my nostalgia muscle flexing Gary!

That loading ramp look spot on. Sure didn’t take you long to fabricate. Perfect addition …

Thanks guys, will add more detail later, chains, grab handle and stuff. Looked up specs for a load ramp, base on the ground to deck height, it suggested a 14 ft ramp. Didn’t know there a specs for ramps.
