Gary Chastain Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 You guys just keep raising the bar on quality builds, love it. 1
RoninUtah Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Yeah, that’s starting to get out of my league! 2
BK9300 Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Off to a great start with the plumbing! Are you using a magnifying desk lamp like I have to use for close in work? 2

Expand Thanks , Brian, doesn't really look like much at the moment, but once tidied up a bit and under a splash of paint it should become somewhat acceptable, if you don't look too closely.... so far no magnifying lamp but I am finding I am needing good light and a steady hand.....I also discovered that my C/A glue had somewhat expired, and was a frustrating thing to work with.... never again the 2 oz bottles, opened a new smaller one and I am back in business..... 2
Jürgen M. Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 I wouldn't even know which lines are neccessary and where to put them! ? Great detail already. Can't wait to see more! 1
Biggu Posted October 26, 2024 Author Posted October 26, 2024 Ok … caveat …… NO Where NEAR accurate but it could work , everything is connected to relay valves, service brakes a d spring brakes. Quite fiddly with big fat fingers but it looks busy enough and under that up coming splash of paint it may be passable if you don’t look too close. The relay valve on the right frame rail is for the lines with the glad hands that will hook to the trailer…. Most of this will be hidden once the 5th wheel plate is installed.
ShakyCraftsman Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Great air line work buddy. Love the bolt detail. You are progressing grasshopper!...? ? ? Ron G 1
Gary Chastain Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Wow, that looks outstanding, well done. This one is gonna look really good on the shelf. 1
Biggu Posted October 26, 2024 Author Posted October 26, 2024 Ron, Gary ….. thanks boys. It was a bit tedious at times but close enough. I think. Thanks for the positive comments, keeps me going. 1
Biggu Posted October 26, 2024 Author Posted October 26, 2024 Ok. I seem to be in the groove today….. a little under cab detailing as per a Peterbilt 352 sales brochure shows . Under cab bracing and support structure,….. 1
Gary Chastain Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 The detailing is addictive and hard to say when you have enough. But wow it pays big when the build is complete. 1
BK9300 Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 (edited) This will all provide a good visual when posed with the cab tipped forward! Good work on the plumbing - where do you get your valves? (I think you mentioned in one of your other threads where you get your air valves, but I don't recall) Edited October 26, 2024 by BK9300 1

But wow it pays big when the build is complete. Expand Boy , is that ever true. I have stepped out of my comfort zone and have the bug now. No NOT bugs … the detail ‘bug’. It is a lot of fun but can be a challenge at times. And once I notice detail in a build I can’t ‘not’ see it and it sure does make a huge difference.

Good work on the plumbing - where do you get your valves? (I think you mentioned in one of your other threads where you get your air valves, but I don't recall) Expand Thanks Brian. The valves are from pail at STSupplyco.com CTM 24230. Their stuff is really good as you know. The under can detail should be quite subtle under a coat of flat or semi gloss black. Won’t be much but it may break up the blah parts. Give those valves a go, you won’t be disappointed. Thanks for checking in …
Biggu Posted October 27, 2024 Author Posted October 27, 2024 Nothing huge but a niggly thing that was bugging me. There was quite a gap, in the cab on the bed support plate where it was to meet the dog house and probably not seen once seats were in etc. but it looked somewhat wrong . So a little shim a tad of sanding and all fixed. Not a big deal but just a small detail. It is little things like the small repairs or adjustments that are required that is good bench time. To be well expected with these older kits. Not a massive scratch build or rocket science but a little more progress…. Pics taken during repairs 4
Jürgen M. Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Lookin good Jeff! Keep going! Love the details! 1

Biggu Posted October 28, 2024 Author Posted October 28, 2024 So… all that stuff that hangs on the frame has to be attached somehow and none of it was welded or super glued on …… bolts are the order of the day, I spent a few minutes and added bolts to the ‘stuff’ that hangs on the frame…. Battery box, cab mounts, air tanks and shifting tower. Also finished bolting the shocks on …. I LOVE Meng bolts. …..
Jürgen M. Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Looks great! How do you make the bolts? ? 1
