goonie Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 I've been painting something with tamiya ts-29 from a can. I've painted other parts, and they come out fine, but this one piece always has a blotchy appearance, no matter how many coats I apply. I'm a complete novice, but I'm doing as every tutorial advises:. Mid 40s humidity, low 70s temp, base tamiya fine primer, a couple of mist coats of color, then a heavier coat, then heavy coat. The other pieces seem fine, but this one is always the same blotchy mess. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I did my best to capture in a pic -
W-409 Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 It has happened to me once as well with the Tamiya paints. I don't know why it happened, but here's how I fixed it: After the paint is dry, sand the are carefully with 1200 grit sandpaper and make sure you're not going through the paint. Then spray several VERY light coats of color on the area, letting each coat of paint dry for a minute or two before the next coat. Important thing is that the paint coats at this point need to be very light. Once that was done, I clear coated mine normally and had no issues. Obviously I can't quarantee it will work every time, but at least on my case it did. 1
