Holy. This is moving along at lightning speed…… this 3d printing is just amazing. You come up with some really cool subjects. This is going to be a rare and unique truck in your collection. And the only one in the world as a model I would bet, that in itself is really cool

Thanks Jeff!

I hope this will turn out worthy!

If this is actually the last of its kind, I want it to be good!

But as always I will not go into detail too deep but probably more than usual!

Research brought up that in 1962/63 there were only 25 of these built and this one survived till today!

Beautiful 3D drawings and impressive building progress using them.

keep it up, it definitely unique and intriguing work!

Bumper and front hubs added!

Next I have to begin painting and assembling the interior. Then I have to mix the color of the cab which also goes on tanks and other parts!

Won't be easy but I'll try to get as close as possible.

The color for my Pig Pen Mack was mixed of five different colors in different percentages and it worked out pretty well!

Jürgen, you're making fantastic progress!  It has to be very gratifying to design and build your own kit(s)!  It may be my imagination (or less than perfect eyesight!), but does your white filament print a bit more smoothly than the darker filament?  Well done!

Thanks very much! Yes, it is gratifying but not always. At least when you find your limits in designing. But I am an old dog who does learn a few new tricks so it stays fun!

In fact, the white filament I have at the time does print a bit smoother. Unfortunately I can't Always get the same quality in each color. The good thing is, you can't see the uneven structures in the black as well (unless you have eyes as good as yours)! 😉

Had to redo the radiator! It was a bit too wide to fit underneath the dog house! That was what I had forgotton to do! 🙈 I knew it!

The mesh is cut out from a printing raft, the Base printed underneath parts to ensure adhesion.

The hubs will be weathered a bit with rust. Hope it works!

And a few more parts:

New seats, battery boxes with steps, instrument panel, steering wheel and slider for fifth wheel! I also designed a new fifth wheel because my "standard" one didn't look enough like the one on this truck! Pics follow when it's printed! It will tilt and slide.

IMG_20250205_122507_6472.jpg.f3a61db7ca5927bef821cb51c9fc986e.jpg

I sanded the seats a bit with 500 grain to make them look a bit used! I'm not sure yet if I should put sheep covers on too like shown in the pics. I'll think about it.

I was thinking the same thing...Jurgen is cruising!

This is the new fifth wheel:

IMG_20250206_214850_6792.jpg.a5211f4d8d9f43906900527c662d78f8.jpg

It will be painted in body color just like the cab.

Now I have to mix the body color and paint the cab, tanks, fifth wheel, battery boxes, ...

Next to that, the windows have to be cut to size.

As soon as the cab ist mounted I can put the cab rest in place and design the air intake, air cleaner, exhaust.

I also reduced the depth of the rear hubs! They were sticking out a bit too far compared to the real thing!

The horn button now has its Marmon badge and mahogany inlay. I know, it's barely visible but it's the first impression that counts!

The Cat lettering on the engine I saw on a picture while doing research.

Eventhough you can't see if this specific engine has the lettering I thought it looks pretty cool!

The color is a bit off but the engine will be weathered a bit. Then it won't look so different anymore!

Did some corrections on the fifth wheel. I had the feeling it was a bit too big and the slider had holes in the side which the real truck doesn't have. Little mistakes that happen, but they're correctable!

I also added the bolts on the sides of the slider.

You may have noticed that I used two types of tires.

Screenshot_20241202-0600482.png.d789ebf84aa74d2c85927c821a71a59d.png

The original truck also has different tires on the rear axles and since I had some of the AMT tires left I thought it might me a bit more original to use them. The other tires are Italeri.

Little cab mock-up:

Roof still has to be worked on and the doors need to be assembled.

Have to make the windows before I assemble everything.

Wow ….. that’s impressive, really smart idea with the doors. This is such a cool build. Love your progress and watching this come together. A unique truck to be sure

I like your idea of mismatching tires.  I see this all the time and it totally makes sense.

All these customer 3D designed parts are super nice and you can only get better and better as technology improves at the same time!

A bit more progress:

Lubricator installed ...

IMG_20250209_223057_3402.jpg.e3ec9f404550eb4685201e38aef2faa7.jpg

Cab mounted ....

Unfortunately the cab seems to be a bit too small. At least the hight isn't sufficient.

I'm actually thinking of making a new one!

On the other hand it could also be that the wheels are a bit too big. Maybe I'll try smaller rims and the round 1 AMT tires!

This sure is cool , a lot of engineering and measuring goes into this. Really interesting and fun to watch, keep going JM !

Thanks Jeff!

I'm printing smaller rims at the moment for the AMT tires. I think the effort is less than making a new cab and it'll do the job!

Pics will follow shortly! 😊

Good idea on the smaller wheels and tyres. Looking great though, either way.

Looking at it, could you narrow the track of the front axle too? You could alter the wheel backspacing so they sit further into the wheel well? Just a thought. I'll give myself a smack if you feel I'm out of order.

You're absolutely right Steve! The front wheels should be narrower. I also had the feeling. The pics show that with the smaller wheels the track actually reduced itself a bit. Just a few mms though.

I doubt I can do anymore without changing the whole axle.

Thanks for your advice. I really appreciate it! Sometimes other eyes see more! Don't hesitate to show up more things.

I also mounted the exhaust pipes with brackets.

Next will be the air cleaner! It's printed but not painted yet.
