Rescued customs Posted January 31 Posted January 31 70 Chevelle canyon carver out of junk box parts basically ….. using a Winston cup chassis a BBC with a cross ram 2x4brl setup just mocking up at this point but this is where I got after a hr 6
johnyrotten Posted January 31 Posted January 31 I see a bit of the nascarlo going on here, cool idea. I've got a couple nascar kits just for the same, I'm thinking an old Hudson or Mercury. Looks great so far.
Rescued customs Posted January 31 Author Posted January 31 Thanks I did a ole skylark a few months ago I just like to do something a lil different and yes nascarlo has always been a inspiration for these style builds 1
Rescued customs Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 Only got two hrs to work on the Chevelle his evening but got the front chassis area built and a radiator support built and the new firewall and started the cage but it is goin very well 3 1
bobss396 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Quite cool. I may steal that front cage design from you. I like the MPC-ish stock car air cleaner. 1
TopherMcGinnis Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Those chassis are cool bases for a build. I used one under STITCHES. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Really like the concept. With the engine set back in the chassis like that, and assuming an aluminum engine and lightweight front body panels, you could probably get very close to 50/50 weight distribution, and something like that would be a real blast to drive on twisty roads. 1 1
Rescued customs Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 Thanks it’s actually a revell peice I have a few of them but really wanted it for this one with the cross ram 2 4s and bbc just felt right
Rescued customs Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 Thanks yea in real life it would be bad ass I think I own a small fab shop and we do a lot canyon carver stuff and felt ide let it influence some my builds plus I really miss my ls6 70 ss so wanted to build what ide do if got another one 1
bobss396 Posted February 3 Posted February 3 I was hanging out in L.A. between 1984 and 1986. I did some "canyon carving" in a Hertz Lincoln Town car on Mulholland. You can get those bad boys in a 4-wheel drift... 1
Rescued customs Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 Got lil more done this evening sorry the pics suck butt but I’m a builder not a photographer lol hope y’all liking the build not the best but looking good for a fast lil project out of my junk parts bin 4 1
bobss396 Posted February 3 Posted February 3 I like everything about it,well executed. I have 2 Southern Stocker cars in the works now. I'm using a similar cage approach with one. I rarely toss out any NASCAR kit cages. There are lots of pieces that can be used. Like going through the metals rack outside the garage when building real stock cars. 1
Rescued customs Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 Got a few hrs with this one this evening while waiting for some parts for the gasser builds and figuring out what I’m doin for the cannonball run build off (which I would love some inspiration on what should build lol ) pics are lil better got some lil details on her got the window clips/straps on helmet painted and hanging started some the body weathering and got the front grill area worked on …. Hope by weekend to have her finished up 2
Rescued customs Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 And yes I’m building this as a street stock car like nascarlo that’s why it still has “headlights” and such. Wish ide shortened the wheelbase up by 3 scale inches but was not worth it . The exhaust I’m still pondering … will it be normal stock car or something lil diff? Also wish ide done a dry sump bbc so might be doing a few changes
Rescued customs Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 got some detail work on the Chevelle done this evening the finish line is getting close 1
Rescued customs Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 Welp she is basically finished I did forget to get exhaust pics I’ll post those tomorrow.., headers fit exhaust built and fit some more details and some mild chassis grime weathering and put her In the case I’m building for her hope y’all like her thanks on to the next build starting tomorrow 3
