It is well worth it. I baulked at the initial cost way back but the benifits just far outway the cost IMO. 

The use of an airbrush opens up new frontiers the easiest of which is custom mixing of paint colours. No longer do you need to rely on what is available in the rattle can range. And anyway you look at it we all spend quite a bit of our budget on paints whatever the way of application is
