RACINE ISHRAQUR RAZA Posted February 9 Posted February 9 The rare Farrah's Foxy Vette kit from AMT. The real car is 1 of 1 and still exists today. Built by George Barris for Farrah Fawcett-Majors, one of the most famous and loved ladies from Charlie's Angels. The interior was a tough one. Simulated the mink carpeting on the real car by using flocking on the kit. The telephone was borrowed from the '65 Lincoln Continental kit, steering wheel from a '68 El Camino kit, and TV was scrath built, with the lower part(VCR/eight track player, not sure what was that on the actual car) coming from a '70 Galaxie kit's CB unit. The original seventies decals disintegrated when dipped in water, so I used spray paint, marker, pen and brushwork to recreate all the graphics on the body. 10
Old Buckaroo Posted February 10 Posted February 10 (edited) Now that is just cool, nice work and I really like what you did with this buildup. I have a "love hate relationship" with this model kit. As a kid growing up it was always in every store that sold models by the multiples. Ive never liked Corvettes and my taste back then was for the MPC Pro Stockers. But this is the kit that was on the shelves, and every boy in Jr High had the mini "Farrah" poster in their locker. My wife asked me once what was the all time hated kit and this was the first one I mentioned.. But then out or sheer curiosity I looked at them on ebay expecting to see $1.98 Buy it now prices. To my surprise there was only a couple with very high prices. Long story short, I bought one that I thought was a bargain compared to the others after a few weeks of watching the auctions. So yes I have this kit, my decals are crud, but I hope to find a set. I will build this as my one and only corvette model to show my wife "I am not scared" I really hope mine will turn out as fabulous as yours, the work you put into it reminds me a lot of the early days of customizing models and I will mark yours for a reference. 👍 Edited February 10 by Old Buckaroo
ClassicDarts Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Nicely done! I don't think I've ever seen this kit before. I guess the real car has taillights from a Monza hatchback... the kit version has not only those, but the entire rear hatch from one? That's what it looks like, at least.
ncbuckeye67 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Very nicely done! I kind of echo Sean's feelings on Corvettes, although I do like the 78 Pace Car (my favorite body style) and of course the 63-67. I do have a 68 Corvette convertible in my display case, that I'm rather proud of.
RACINE ISHRAQUR RAZA Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 Thank you everyone for the compliment! Much appreciated!
RACINE ISHRAQUR RAZA Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 @Old Buckaroo Thanks for the compliment and also for sharing your memories of that kit! Currently I'm working on this other 1970s celebrity car and will post it here as soon as it's completed. I think this Pontiac will make a good companion for Farrah's Foxy Corvette. There will also be many model car replica from Charlie's Angels in the near future. 1
