Jürgen M. Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 I finally finished the tractor: Since the hood I got from Bren (thanks again for printing it for me, Bren!) unfortunately dropped to the floor and broke in half I decided to make it look like an accident as they say in Hollywood movies! 😊 If it wouldn't have worked, I would have had a second hood from Bren to use as an exchange part. To tell the truth, I wasn't really in the mood to make another hood. This one was finished! Painted, decals on, everything! On it's way to be hinged to the truck it just slipped out of my clumsy hand and fell to the floor. To make a long story short, I used a soldering iron to make the grille fit to the hood. Used some thinner and rust color to make it look a bit real. See for your self. I'll post it "under glass" when the trailer is finished too! 1
Biggu Posted April 2 Posted April 2 (edited) I think it turned out perfectly. Also as a small side bonus is, the hood, is not ‘perfectly’ level on the hinges. That is very realistic and pretty much like every one I ever drove. Looks great JM!!! Job very well done ! Edited April 2 by Biggu
RoninUtah Posted April 2 Posted April 2 That is an amazing build, it turned out perfect! And it’s complete unique. Very well designed and executed! 1
Jürgen M. Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 Thanks very much Guys! I'm glad that you see it that way! I'm not 100% satisfied to be honest. Some things are just not like I expected them to be and there were quite a few set-backs along the way. I guess for that it's OK though. I can't wait to get the whole rig off the bench. The trailer should be finished sometime this weekend. I'll keep you updated! 😊 2

I think it looks great Jurgen. Unfortunately water-soluble resin is quite brittle - as you just found out - not as forgiving as styrene. I think you rescued this one elegantly. 1
Jürgen M. Posted April 3 Author Posted April 3 Thanks Bren! I would have had the second one in case of total loss but it only broke in two pieces. Maybe because the grille was already attached! Maybe I'll prepare the second hood anyway, for all cases! 😉 1
Jürgen M. Posted April 4 Author Posted April 4 A few pics of the almost finished trailer: The perforated plates above the axles are still in print. Ramps with dampers work fine! This is what the whole rig looks like: Now the small stuff hast to be done: Tail lights, markerlights, licence plate, winch, straps to tighten the load (which will be two other Mack trucks - hopefully they'll both fit on the trailer). 2
Biggu Posted April 4 Posted April 4 That is super cool , JM. It will look great with a load. Can't wait to see it loaded…
Jürgen M. Posted April 4 Author Posted April 4 The trailer is pretty much finished. Still have to make the straps for the tires of the to be loaded trucks! 1
BK9300 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Going to look very impressive, all loaded up, Jürgen! Will you have room in your new cabinet for this, or will it go up on a shelf? 1

Jürgen M. Posted April 4 Author Posted April 4 I tried to make the ramps and perforated plates look like they were very frequently used. I sanded them with 500 grain sand paper to create the impression of tire marks. Good thing I printed in black! The dampers in the rear actually work. I'll post a little video shortly! 2
cifenet Posted April 5 Posted April 5 (edited) Impressive stuff you are generating here. The whole setup looks super massive also! Nice job~ Edited April 5 by cifenet 1 1
Jürgen M. Posted April 7 Author Posted April 7 (edited) I guess the trailer is finished now! The whole rig is close to 92 cms long! With the ramps down it's almost 97 cms. I added marker lights along the sides and tail lights. Ran out of chains so I'll have to wait till new ones arrive so I can put the trucks on. I'll put it in "under glass" when I have the chains and the trucks can be loaded! Thanks for watching! I am fully aware of the fact that trailers like this one normally don't have a winch but I thought hey, it's for loading vehicles! There's Always one that won't start so how do you get a truck on a lowboy if it can't be driven? At least that's my personal point of view. 😊 Edited April 7 by Jürgen M. 1
Gary Chastain Posted April 7 Posted April 7 What a cool rig, and kudos to your imagination. To print/build nearly every component is impressive and a sure sign of the future of modeling. Well done. 1 1
Biggu Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Just TOO COOL JM !!! This is really turning out well. I really like it. Good job buddy 1
cifenet Posted April 7 Posted April 7 This is almost 1 meter long? Wow, that’s some length. I guess that is the definite advantage designing and printing your own parts. Those hydraulic shocks under the ramps are nice touch, good details! 1 1
Jürgen M. Posted April 7 Author Posted April 7 Thanks! Glad you like it! I´ve got two even longer rigs! My GMC General Pipeline truck measuring 1.02 mtrs and my White Western Star road train measuring 1.70 mtrs! That´s about as long as they will get. Got no more space! 🙃 2
Jürgen M. Posted April 11 Author Posted April 11 These two are the candidates to be strapped onto the lowboy! I guess most of you know them from former threads! As soon as the chains arrive I can finish up and move on to the next project. 2
cifenet Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Going all "Mack" here! Should be a good looking setup when all staged! 1
