FujimiLover Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 Interior finished and mounted! Next comes the body!
FujimiLover Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 A few quick teaser-pic's for yea since the body was dry-enough! This should be completed by Monday! You like?
Foxer Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 That's looking real good! Lots of nice color contrasts in the chassis and interior.
FujimiLover Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 Thank you! When I painted the bottom side of the body, the roof got a little mark from where it was resting on the cardboard. So, this morning I touched up the roof and painted the underside of the rear wing. Later today I should be able to do some detailing. The light gun-metal color really suits the 928 very well! It's not exactly like the Strosek picture I posted, but look's just as nice nonetheless! I'm looking forward to this one being finished and sitting pretty with my other two Koenig's!
atenzapower Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Very nice work. Tip,you have to sand your tires, mate
FujimiLover Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 Very nice work. Tip,you have to sand your tires, mate I know why you say that, but I'm afraid I'd lose some detail's if I do. I also dont' want to accidently give it a "flat".
atenzapower Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I know why you say that, but I'm afraid I'd lose some detail's if I do. I also dont' want to accidently give it a "flat". I know what you mean. Do you have the kit number for me please. First i have to finish some models and than i start with the koenig diablo.
FujimiLover Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 (edited) The number on the box is 12403, but I'm not entirely sure if that's the part number your asking for. Good luck finding one! It's a very nice and simple kit with the exception of the instrument dial's! I'm either going to build the 911 next, or my wide-bodied MR2, and THEN my KS Diablo! Edited May 2, 2009 by FujimiLover
Corvette.Jeff Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I know why you say that, but I'm afraid I'd lose some detail's if I do. I also dont' want to accidently give it a "flat". Dont worrie about loosing the details, you just have to watch how hard you sand the tire, the easiest way iv'e found to do it is get some sanding files(the long skinny ones with the handles) tehn put the tire around your finger, sand from the middle out to the sides and around, that way it'll give it a "real" look. Jeff.
B_rad88 Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 hey fujimilover, what paint did you use to achive that yellow gold rims? i used metalic gold and it turns out different. thanks for your help, Brandon
FujimiLover Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 (edited) Thank's for the tips on the tires, might do that later on. For the gold, I simply painted clear yellow ontop of the stock surface. That was a trick I learned a long time ago from Fujimi's instructions for building their Koenig Competition Testarossa. They told you to use clear yellow on the rims. I would've never thought it would work, but when I did it I was amazed at how much better they looked than actually painting theme with gold paint. So use clear yellow. If you want more specific's, I use Tamiya's color number X-24 for the clear yellow. I'm wondering if I want to do the same thing on the all red 911, or give it matching red wheels. Wheels on the 911 are same BBS style as on this 928. While I've always loved the combination of gold on red, I've already got three cars with gold wheels on'em. Some updates. I've added the decals, Beleive it or not, there are gold badges here, but the gold is hardly noticable against this metallic color. So, not even sure why I bothered with these decals. Mirror is finished, will need clear-coating later. It get's glued onto the side window peice once the windshield is in place. I've back-chromed the lenses ....................and finally painted both sides of the rear wing. I'm not sure what to do next. I dont' know if I want to paint the black trim first like I've done before, or clear-coat it next. Reason for uncertainty is before when I've clear-coated afterwards, the black trim had faded in some spot's. I'd have to go back and touch it up. Reason I prefer to clear-coat afterwards is to seal it all in................................. Edited May 2, 2009 by FujimiLover

I say use black on the rims, taht suits very nice on a red car. And your work is great.
Foxer Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 ....................and finally painted both sides of the rear wing. Those are some serious sink holes on the wing. If that's the underside, they shouldn't be noticeable.
FujimiLover Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 Your right about the sink holes, unfortunetly, their on top. I probably should've smoothed'em over with some putty before painting, but I didn't. Last night I did the window trim, and this morning I clear-coated it! This time, the clear coat didn't seem to effect the trim work. Maybe I didn't spray as close this time? Who knows!
FujimiLover Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 Those are some serious sink holes on the wing. If that's the underside, they shouldn't be noticeable. I wonder if the real car has those for some reason, or if it's just a fluke in the modelling.
FujimiLover Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 Found two pictures of a real one in silver. Unfortunetly, does not show the top of the rear wing. Look's like he only has the stock mirrors though, shame he didn't complete it with the KS mirrors as their much more aerodynamic and cooler cooling.
Foxer Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 (edited) I wonder if the real car has those for some reason, or if it's just a fluke in the modelling. Those are pretty obvious sink holes. They are directly opposite the thicker mounting parts of the wing and not unusual for that condition .. thicker spots on the casting. Those are not you doing or anything that belongs there, I'm sure. I'd find it hard to believe anyone would put some holes in a wing like that unless there was some attachment there. They do look like pretty uniform sink holes. but that's not unusual either.. I hate to say it, but they will be very noticeable. It wouldn't be a big deal filling and repainting, but that always is a pain. It's always your call.. what you're shooting for and what makes you happy is ALWAYS Job #1. The trim on this one looks outstanding! .. edges are sharp as a razor!! Edited May 3, 2009 by Foxer
B_rad88 Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 thanks for the info. Q: would turn signal amber work the same but only metalic? and awsome job on the ks928 ! and sorry about the mirror!
