It helps to have some knowledge on how things on a car and truck works when you work on models to get things right.
The pipe going over the engine top from the turbo to the intake manifold shouldn't be there if you have an air to air intercooler/aftercooler in front of the radiator.

If you are replicating a truck from the mid 90's the engine you are using is too old, it's a Cat 3406A wich came 1973 and replaced the 1693, the A model was replaced with the 3406B in 1987 wich in turn was replaced with the 3406C in 1993, after that came the 3406E wich is the final version of the 3406 up to 2007 when the C15 came, the C and E model was produced at the same time for about 5 years as the C model ended production in 1998.
The major difference between a A and B/C model is where the diesel injection pump is located, about mid engine block lengthwise for the A model and up against the front cover for the B and C models.
The E model has 3 valve covers like the C15, and the A/B/C models had only 2, the E model was also electronic and has no injection pump on the side of the block.
I don't think the 3406B and C model are available on the aftermarket, only the A but the C15 is wich is very similar to a 3406E, so for a mid 90's truck I would have used a 3406E/C15 engine for it.
But it's your truck model and of course you do as you please with it.

Thanks for the detailed information, it is very helpful and good to know. I removed the crossover tube as you suggested and patched the scars as best I could but that’s as far as I’ll go. As I mentioned from the outset, this build won’t have the detail and accuracy of some of builds out there, where every bolt and air line is correctly placed. I build trucks to look accurate on a superficial level and photograph well and look good on the shelf. The hood is closed 99% of the time. But I do appreciate your insight and your comments!

Of course.
It's your model and you are free to do as you please.
I just wanted to share the information and you are welcome to it as all here are...we are here to help each other.
Happy building

Progress, in fits and starts. Cab, hood and bumper are mounted. The bull bar comes from an Italeri Freightliner. Stacks are made from aluminum tubes.

Cab accessories are chromed and I’m starting to attach them.

The headache rack is from the Revell Level 5 “Marmobilt” donor, I made it thicker with styrene channels and added a tower to attach a light bar.

So, it’s gradually coming along and starting to look like a truck. Thanks for looking!

I have been quietly watching this come together, Ron. I like where this is going and as JM says that bullbar looks great and makes a custom fit. Your headache rack is a great design and well thought out. I may have to borrow that idea for a future build. Everything looks spot on. This is a really nice build. I struggled with the sleeper roof on my build , but yours looks to be a very smooth clean fit. I really like this. Another enjoyable build thread.

Nice, Ron! Love that bull bar.

Can't wait to see it finished! Have you planned a trailer for it?

Thanks, Jürgen! The only lowboy trailer I have is the old AMT one; I’d love to build a proper one with the jeeps and all, but I haven’t found one on Cults.

Thanks, Jeff! I wanted to add some depth to the headache rack to add a little realism to the chain cabinets; for some reason Revell made it too narrow to work.

I’ll be traveling over the weekend but I hope to wrap this up later next week!

How about a huge chromed tank trailer with blue rims? That would look really cool! 👍

That trailer would be an awesome addition to your build!

Probably a little beyond my skill level!

This is more like what I’m looking for, actually. I found a similar 3D model on Cults, so I’ll download it and try printing it. This may take a while!

Ron, I have blueprints to a trailer like this, interested? I can post em up here if you want.

That would be awesome, thanks Gary!!

Second batch, I believe these are from same company, but there are many variations of these trailers. There are two axle jeeps and three axle jeeps. I have been told, that in the US, there are states that require a swivel after three axles, hence the three axle trailer with a two axle follower. IMG_1017.png.d99b375aa28cb31c6253ed8a26ac6d21.pngIMG_1016.png.aabd9ba40aa9f289068ffe974b3503e4.png

Those are great, Gary, super helpful. Exactly what I had in mind: 3 axle jeep, 3 axle trailer and 2 axle follower. I’ll base the build on the 3D model and use these for detailing and mods as necessary. Thanks again!

Will be a good build to follow.

Well, I had a chance to get back to this one and finish it up. I'm calling it done for now; I'll come back and adjust a few things once I get a trailer built for it. Putting it Under Glass soon, but here are some shots from today, as a sneak preview.

Many thanks to all who have followed this build and offered advice, support and contributions!
