Hey Ron This is my Heavy Haul trailer set-up. About 80% scratch built. It's a XL SPECIALIZED XL120 RGN Lowboy, Jeep and Stinger. That's my attempt at trying to scratch build a Cat 374F excavator sitting on the trailer. This view shows the whole set-up. It's about 5 feet long! This is the load equalizing stinger. This view is the jeep. This view shows the flippable gooseneck. This view shows the trailer deck. This view shows the trailer rear suspension. (I know the brakes are caged, I've since fixed this). I'm not trying to appropriate your post. Just showing what you can do by scratch building one.😁😉👍 One of these days I'm going to have to finish it. Ron G Edited May 9 by ShakyCraftsman
RoninUtah Posted May 9 Author Posted May 9 Wow, that looks great! Is it scratchbuilt? I know that ain't no durn AMT kit!

Except for suspensions from Jamie, W/T's are Moebius, small honda engine for the hydraulics from Shapeways, etc. It's just sitting there staring at me. "Saying..finish me!!!!...😆 🤣 😂 I'm really going to have to finish it. Jeff keeps bugging me to get it done.😁😉 Ron G 1

Thanks Ron Believe it or not, it's on my to do list. Right after the Autocar, Alberta oilfield bed truck, IH 350 Payhauler, "Bill Signs" Peterbilt, etc., etc....😆 🤣 😂 I just hope I live long enough to finish everything, I am getting up there in age you know...😆 🤣 😂 Ron G

The trailer and jeep are printed and mostly assembled; here they are mocked up with wheels and tires. As far as I can tell, this design is sort of generic, and a little wonky: The tongues on both the jeep and trailer are too high, so I had to add styrene boxes to the kingpin blocks and turn the into sorta goosenecks. Here they are with the tractor; so far this thing is about four feet long. The design didn't come with a stinger, so I printed a second jeep and I'll modify it with a pivot and supplemental framing scratched from styrene. I'll go ahead and shoot some yellow paint on the the jeep and trailer in the meantime. I have no idea where I;m going to store this thing once it's complete! 2

Mine is almost 5' long with the stinger. Yours probably will be also. We're to store it is part of the reason mine isn't finished yet.😁😉 Ron G 2 1
Biggu Posted May 11 Posted May 11 That is really cool. You could load the jeeps on the trailer like they do here when they are done with the haul and going back to the barn. We see that all the time. This is a very cool trailer, Ron. 1 1

Jürgen M. Posted May 12 Posted May 12 Looks really cool! I had to put a new shelf on the wall for my 1.72m road train. Not easy creating space for such a long rig! You'll think of something! 2 1

You'll think of something! Actually, I'm in the process of re-doing that entire area. All my models are in the shed while my workspace/display area gets renovated. I hope to increase my shelf space, but every time I do that it gets filled up again! 😆 1

RoninUtah Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 I got my attempt at a stinger made, swivel and all. Like Ron G said, with the stinger the total length of the model is about 5 feet (roughly 1- 1/2 meters)! This is all getting painted yellow… hopefully soon! Here it is mocked up with wheels and tires. 3

BK9300 Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Great progress, Ron - will look amazing when all the units are all hooked together. 1
RoninUtah Posted May 15 Author Posted May 15 Everything is pretty well put together now and painted the base color. Here’s another mock- up; wheels and tires aren’t attached yet, pending some detail painting and small additions. I had to do this in the hallway because there’s to other place big enough! Here she is headed to the yard after another haul! 3
