Texture for dash

I just used the non sticky side of masking tape to create a texture dash pad for my 1971 Duster kit, it's subtle but I know it's there

Did you wrap the dash with tape or use the tape to imprint the texture?

I’m assuming he just used the backside of the tape to imprint the texture.

Using the tape itself to cover the dash would be WAY out of scale, much as it is for vinyl tops.

I just put a coat of paint on and looped a piece of tape around my fingers an pressed the dash. 

Might look at other masking tapes texture for wrinkle finishes.
