hunter71 Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 As a youngster I kept AMT in business. Then came High school, I met my wife of 41 years and kids duties. Now with only grand kids to build for I build another type of truck. Red Cedar is my choice of the main wood with accents out of many others. No kits, metal, plastic, nails or screws 100% wood, 100% handmade. I call them shelf toys as they are not kid tough. Here is a link to a homemade slid show of a 1949 International KB-6 in 12:1 scale. I have a full size version too. http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/21251984 I use the 12:1 scale for most things so I can use them together. As a petrolina collector I have a few pumps made to set the mood for showing off the trucks. As a full size tractor collector I use many of my antique tractors as reference to recreate them in cedar too. The lugs on tractor wheels have always plagued me so I built a machine to make them, as of now all I can make is the 48" diameter wheel and tire for my Ford N cedar collection. I have a re-design planned for the machine so I can make the old Deere's too. As I get more familiar with your forum I will get some pictures on. I am located in N.E. Alabama and would like to know if anyone else is making cedar trucks and tractors in my area. Doug dperkins49@gmail.com
Dingo Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 (edited) Man that's great and makes my cardstock model look crappy, I'd love to be able to do stuff like that, well done Doug. Dingo Edited May 11, 2009 by Dingo
