Hi Folks,

as I announced in my WIP thread 'Convoy, take 7' I refurbished an old DAF 2800 NTT Cattleman while waiting for the cab of my CO4070b.

I never really liked what I had made of that DAF kit so I used the time to turn it into something I like!

This is it before:

You nailed that one JM...looks like the penultimate farm truck, with the wooden box, for grain or hay, and the colors are perfect for a hard working truck, that doesn't get a lot of daily love, but is always there to serve the fields...with a little rust on the door, and the dirty stack .........  well done, nice conversion , I like this a lot !

Wow! Thanks very much!

You described my goal concerning this transformation very precisely!

A hard working truck not receiving much love but still always there!

That's why I didn't use clear coat on the flat colors!

It's supposed to look worn but kept in shape enough to keep going!

Maybe a trailer will follow after the IH is done!

Wow!

What a Great Save!

I've always wanted that DAF 2800 NTT Kit. Goes for crazy money here in the US, and that is when you can find one. I keep hoping that Italeri will release it again someday, but I've been waiting 6 years, and had now luck.

You Version hits the Farm Truck vibe really well. I see similar trucks, here in the town where I live.

Great overhaul on your DAF, Jürgen!  Never set eyes on one in real life, but, from your model, it sure looks like a workhorse of a truck.

Thanks Brian,

I can imagine that they're not very common in North America. Eventhough DAF belongs to Paccar.

I haven't seen the Cattleman version in real life either but in the 80s and 90s the N2800 were common trucks hauling cement silos because of their powerful V8s.

It's a bit a of a tribute to these old but reliable work horses!

Very cool build, Jürgen! I like the Dutch plates!

Even though DAF is owned by Paccar, along with Peterbilt and Kenworth, they’re virtually unknown in North America except for some Class 4 and 5 COEs that are branded as Kenworth and Peterbilt (although they are really DAF models.)

Hi Ron,

Thanks, Im glad you like it!

That's interesting. Didn't know they were running as PB and KW in the US. Just Like Renault running as Macks!

By the way, the plates are danish (DK). 😉

They're not that easy to tell apart though at least not the ones used before the European ones. Today they have the little blue European flag on the left with the nationality code. Makes it easier.

Danish! Of course! I should have known!  But in all fairness, pre- Euroband Danish and NL plates were pretty similar.

So, I guess your truck is working on a dairy farm!

I don't know! Could just be a construction company!

The plates were very similar!

To tell them apart:

The Dutch have (till today) mostly two numbers or letters in three pairs.

Like this:

But don't ask me if it has any meaning!

My next refurbishing project is a Scania 142M. I'll try to get that finished by the time the new IH cabs arrive! Bren has printed some more since the first parcel didn't find its way here.

Thanks again Bren!

They should arrive by end of next week so till then I will refurbish the Scania.

When the IH is finally done I will add a cement mixer to the Scania!

I'll probably open a thread in 'under glass' for that.
