It has everything; wiring harness, computer, transmission, brake booster, even a few parts for swapping it into a Fox Mustang. Those bad boys can make some serious horsepower, too. I bring it home next week.

What's goin' on...

If that doest work for ya I have three here taking up space Small Block Chevies 1966 327.40 over 1973 350.060over and a bare stock 1967 283. HA!!! I sold the Chevelle a little over a year ago and these things are nothing to me but in the way!!! LOL

I'm not positive, but I recall being told that because of the UNGODLY width of the 4.6 (about the same as a 460!) you may need to pull the K-member, bolt the engine down, then drop the car onto it.

Its actually easier to drop a 390 in there than a 4.6....

it will fit in there nice, bit tight, but it works just fine. the ungodly horsepower comes with a steep, very steep pricetag though.

before you scoff at Semi Trailer Mechanic's suggestion for a small-block Chevy, there's ALOT of Fox bodied Mustangs running around with them! probably more than you'd like to know. the LS based small block is a really popular swap.

Really? I couldn't imagine a Chevy engine in a Mustang. As for my '87, it's got the stock 5.0. Plenty enough power for the occasional weekend drive.

Having owned a FOX body Mustang and currently owning a Lincoln Mark VIII with the 4.6L DOHC motor, fitting it between the strut towers will be really tight. The 4.6 only displaces 281ci, but the external dimensions are huge! The cylinder heads alone are massive in order to house the cams and the valve train. As far as power goes, yeah, they have a ton of potential, but you can build a high hp 5.0L/302 for a lot less, and not have the fit issues to deal with. That said, if you do it, post pics!

The car came with a 4cyl. I just want something different. I gave some serious thought to a 460, but stock blocks are "only" good for about 600hp.

Something to think about, dimension-wise: I know from direct experience (I own or have owned both)that a 5.0 in a Mustang II (sub-compact) leaves more working space in the engine bay than an SOHC 4.6 does in a Crown Victoria (FULL-size sedan).

I can (and HAVE) pulled the whole engine out of a Mustang II in less time than it took to pull JUST the driver's side cam cover off the Crown Vic.

Don't forget to add at LEAST a set of sub-frame connectors (and probably a minimum 8 point cage) to that unibody Stang, or it'll go from box-fox to pretzel-box in one good jab at the skinny pedal.

Oh, and if you are pulling the engine anyway, is it by chance a 5-speed? I could use the engine computer in my 89 4-banger. I just did a T5 swap (after the POS A4LD blew out the pump seal and dumped the entire load of ATF onto the nice warm catalytic converter at 130 kph)

Oh it's getting subframe connectors, alright...and more. Yeah I know it's a tight fit, but I want it anyway.

The '88 is a 5-speed. I have no use for its computer. Send a PM if you want it.
