Convoy, take 7 (Bald Eagle)

Hi Folks,

I finally got it finished, my 7th Convoy truck:

It's the IH Transtar II with the CB handle 'Bald Eagle'!

For those who missed the WIP thread, the truck is completely designed and printed except for a few small box parts.

The trailer is the AMT 'Watkins' reefer.

Thanks again to Bren for printing the cab for me. You really put lots of time and effort into it! 👍

Nice job  JM and quite the journey to get here too , but through it all, you captured the look exactly!  Good job mate. She will look good with the rest of the “Convoy”.  Does this one complete the fleet?  Good job bud.

...and maybe the microbus of the Jesus Freaks!

Then my Convoy shelf will be full!

Very cool truck and convoy. I have'nt thought of the Magnavox brand in forever. Did I miss the cabover Pete with a refer on and the Jimmy hauling hogs?

I'm glad you like it, thanks, and I'm amazed that there are still people out there, who know the old, original version of the song!

For those who aren't familiar with the history of the movie:

After the first version of the Convoy song was launched it became so popular, especially among non truckers, that a guy named B.W.L. Norton, a screen writer, wrote a film script of it in 1974.

The background story was actually the protest of one single trucker in Pennsylvania.

Anyway, to make a long story short, the script as well as the song were modified a few times and Sam Peckinpah was hired as a director. 

The budget of originally 5 million $ exploded to almost 10 because they had realized that a movie like Convoy couldn't be shot in studios. They needed real trucks and real locations. 

It was a chaotic production and most actors had threatened to quit before the takes we're finished.

The movie almost disappeared on the cutting room floor because noone really thought it would become a success.

It did though. Not as big as expected but it flushed about 24.5 million $ at the box offices.

Actually I picked up a book written all about the making of the movie. It tells the whole story and gives you a good view behind the scenes.
