Well, I couldn't resist this one anymore. Even though I'm still working on my wide-bodied MR2, I just had to get this one out between body modifications on the MR2. I've built this kit once before and it's a pretty simple kit to do.

Body and parts

Model Masters Guards Red for body and chassis, and Testors Flat Red for the interior.

I'm going to build it to replicate this real car here notice the red interior and gold wheels? Nice huh? Now if only my paint job can look this good! :D

The KS 911 in Koenig's catalouge. Noticed the optional full-red leather interior treatment at right-center?

This will be number FIVE! :D

I just trimmed up the chassis, some chassis parts, and body. I also hand-washed the parts to clean the mold-resude off'of theme.

The car is going to be Guards Red, a color that Porsche uses alot. On this car, the instructions clearly sais that the entire chassis main part be body color with the main front and main rear parts silver, with a few black bit's. So, I'll be painting both the chassis and body at the same time. All parts of this car are molded in white with the window/lenses parts molded in clear.

Since I'm useing Model Masters and not Tamiya, I'm not sure how Model Masters will work on top of bare plastic. So, I'm going to use white primer, white base, and top it with the red and so on.

And no, I am not going to wash the KS mirrors over an open sink! LOL!

hey fujimilover, is it me, or do those tail lights look like they came from a porsche 944 S2!

I have no idea. but they could have used it to go along with the new body work. So, it's possible! But, I wouldnt' know.

After I white-primered the chassis/body earlier today, I just got done test-painting the chassis. I figured I'd rather goof-up the chassis, then the body. Anyway, successful paintwork with just applying the Guards Red directly on the primer.

DSC09474.jpg

I will let this dry till tomarrow and see how it continues to look, then proceed with the body. The Guards Red is a slightly darker red than the Italian Red and should make this car look freaking sweet!

I'll have to come back later with the masking tape and paint the engine silver with black trim.

Also primed these with the black primer and will go over these with the same silver as the engine. Sounds like it should be a colorfull chassis!

Okay, painted the body this morning. And so far, so good!

I need to make myselfe a rigid stand for painting to keep the body off the cardboard. Not so much an issue when the car's lower skirts are rounded, but is a problem when their flat and the paint builds up on those corners.

Still, a stand would be a good idea. Will have to wait for this to dry for a good day or two. Seems to me the Tamiya paints dry faster than Model Masters.

Thank you. As the paint dries, the red does loos it's high-gloss wet look. But that will be taken care of when I clear coat it with Model Masters Lacqure clear-gloss.

Question, while the instructions calls for the chassis to be body-colored, which I've done, does the chassis get a clear-coat as well? Or should I not bother clear-coating the chassis?

I retract my statement. The more I look at theme, the more I realize I think your right Kuztoms. They are from a 944, but not sure which model. I think they did this because of the new body work that some how, maybe the original tail-lights got lost in this new design? Who knows why Koenig went from 911 tail-lights to 944 tail lights. But your right, their definetly 944's.

This is a cool looking Porsche and paint is looking good. :) I love flat paint on interiors to get that leather-like shine after rubbing it with a soft cloth after it's dry. And I wouldn't clear coat the chassis just to give it a little different gloss to set it apart.

I had five 1:1 924/944's and those tail lights are dead ringers. Just like using 56 Packard tail lights on a 51 Merc!

For painting a body, a wire coat hanger works better than anything I've ever tried. It's re-bendable every time you use on a different model. It can be made to either stand on it's own or hang upside down to dry. I like them because I can twist and turn the body as I spray. Only trouble now a days is most hangers around the house are plastic! ;)

oh, ok cool! and i would clear coat it, to protect the paint! but thats the only reason! but i would semi-gloss clear or flat-clear coat!

Thank's guys! I'd thought I would finish assembling the chassis before clear-coating it. But I will use the dull-coat. Just hope I dont' get my clear's mixed up and dull the body and gloss the chassis! LOL! ;)

Well, I accidently picked up my light gun-metal spray instead of my silver leaf spray and painted my chassis parts.

However, I think I like'em better this color anyway. This project may take longer to build as I work on my Smonda at the same time.

Dry-fitting the parts onto the chassis. I actually like this gun-metal much better than the traditional silver. It'll help brake it away from the engine parts. Now I gotta paint the engine flat-black. Why flat-black? Aren't they aluminum color, or did Porsche paint their's black? Wish I had a picture of the real car's engine.

Sprayed the interior, seats, dashboard, steering wheel, and gear shifter flat-red. Look's glossy when wet, but as it dries it will flatten and when all work done a coat of clear-dull will cover it.

There will be very few accents in this interior. Look at the interior in the picture showen in the catalouge and you can see just how much red is on this Porsche!

The last time I built this model, probably ten years ago it seems, it was white with blue trim and looked like it was done by a child! LOL!

If the previous four have showen us anything, this one should be KILLER! :D

Now take what I've painted so far, and picture it all together as one complete model!

Maybe I need to decorate the KS Countach like the famous police Countach? LOL!

See how it's already flattened out and look's more leathery?

At least with this model, I've got some great reference photo's! Still, wish I had pictures of the engine from underneath.

that interior looks great! alot better than the semi-gloss black interior w/red seats in my honda s2000!

..............it aint' finished yet buddy! But thank you! Tomarrow morning I'll start detailing the dashboard.

I'm going to go by the instructions as much as I can. I'll probably paint the calipers red, wheel-spokes gold like the one in the top photo. Since the chassis is red, I think it would be wrong to paint engine red as well. Other wise you wouldn't have anything really to look at.
