RoninUtah Posted Saturday at 01:52 PM Posted Saturday at 01:52 PM This is gonna be an awesome build, I’ll be watching to steal your ideas! 😆 1 1

I remember them showing on the news that they're looking for a guy in Canada who keeps losing truck mud flaps! 😁 Actuality in all reality, thinking hard on that I think I only tore two off. One was when they had the flaps mounted to the dump box way back in the day and we were butt oiling gravel and I got too close to the pile due to inexperience and the second time was when we were hauling shot rock and a big chunk of rock fell between the rock pile and the rear tire. When I pulled ahead slowly so the rocks wouldn’t fall against a brake chamber it, instead pulled the dang flap off. 🙄Then it was a trip back to the barn to fix it 😘 Edited Saturday at 02:32 PM by Biggu
BK9300 Posted Saturday at 08:34 PM Posted Saturday at 08:34 PM Apart from printing most of your own parts, you also hand fabricate other, custom pieces to add in, too! Great progress, Jurgen, and I hear you may have another resin printed hood and cab on their way to you. Going to look wonderful. 1
Jürgen M. Posted Saturday at 08:52 PM Author Posted Saturday at 08:52 PM Yes Brian, thanks! Bren has printed the body parts and a few others for me! Thanks again Bren! You're great! 👍 I'm sure that'll make it perfect! You'll all see pics when I have the parts! 3
Jürgen M. Posted Monday at 03:58 AM Author Posted Monday at 03:58 AM Some small stuff: I made the hand rails out of tiny printed parts (I was amazed that they came out so well on my printer despite the size) and 1mm brass rod: Perfect fit: Finished: 4
Jürgen M. Posted Monday at 08:46 AM Author Posted Monday at 08:46 AM Thanks Brian! Printing those tiny pieces is always an adventure. I had done some adjusting in the slicer and it seems to have payed off! Chassis is painted now. Pics will follow when it's dry! 1
Jürgen M. Posted Monday at 03:05 PM Author Posted Monday at 03:05 PM The chassis is painted and almost finished! 4
Rockford Posted Monday at 09:27 PM Posted Monday at 09:27 PM That's looking great mate. Well done. Looking forward to seeing it all come together. 1 1
Jürgen M. Posted Wednesday at 09:48 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 09:48 AM (edited) I didn't like the printed stacks, especially the bent part so I had decided to use straight stacks without heatshields. That decision bothered me so I tried to bend a 6mm aluminium tube into shape! I used a small vice which I had made myself back in school and carefully bent the tubes by hand. The results were aching hands and these: I think they look quite nice! And these I will polish and see how they look. Since that worked out so well I decided to redo the exhaust tubing cause the printed one looked terrible! The left one was the printed one and the right one is made of 4mm aluminium rod. I separated the end pieces in the 3D drawing of the left one, printed them in a better position and glued them on! In place (not glued yet): I like that much better! Jürgen M. Posted Wednesday at 10:05 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 10:05 AM I don't know if anyone cares but I thought I'd add some building statistics: Up to now, and that should almost be the final score, this build has 307 parts in total of which 231 are designed and printed, 76 are made of rubber (tires), transparent foil, plastic (fuel tank ends), metal tube and rod. Engine and transmission with smaller parts were taken over from the Marmon Harrington. Some chassis parts were also taken out of the virtual drawer and partially adjusted in one way or another. The no. of specially designed parts for this build comes up to about 209. Hope that was interesting for someone? 1

I think it’s quite interesting, Jurgen - have been wanting to do a similar tally myself, but haven’t taken the time to do it. Also, quite curious how you made such clean, tight, radius bends in your exhaust pipes, without crimping the aluminum. Good job! 1
Jürgen M. Posted Wednesday at 04:29 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 04:29 PM Thanks Brian! The bending of the stacks was tough! I clamped them in the vice, of course with a cloth in between, and began to carefully bend them bit by bit. First really close to the Vice working myself more and more to the outside! If you only bend it by the millimeter you have a fair chance of not crimping it. That's what I meant by hurting hands! 😉 Now they're polished too and I must say I'm more than pleased! 1
Jürgen M. Posted Wednesday at 05:27 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 05:27 PM (edited) A first glimpse at the interior: The dash is on it's way here from Canada together with the body parts and rims! In the meantime I made a TV for the sleeper: Edited Wednesday at 05:27 PM by Jürgen M. 3

The oil distributor tank you designed had over 260 pieces plus the ones I added , it is hard to believe how many parts are involved to build a well detailed model. Very interesting 1
Gary Chastain Posted Wednesday at 10:53 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:53 PM Just outstanding, the exhaust is going to add nice detail, well done. 1 1
Jürgen M. Posted 20 hours ago Author Posted 20 hours ago I'm going to exchange the air intake plumbing by aluminium tube. I discovered a nice way to reproduce the printed parts. I'll show you tomorrow, as soon as I got my delivery! 😉 My wife already asked me if I haven't built enough trucks yet! I told her that meanwhile the trucks aren't my focus anymore (don't worry, I won't build anything else). It's the skills I've learned the last weeks and months that keep my mind busy and have me returning to the bench as if I were pulled there by a magnet! I keep having new ideas of how to do things and of course I want to try them out immediadetly! The truck models are merely a (fun) way of transforming the ideas into hardware! It's things like bent stacks and air intakes. Printing tiny parts and new designing techniques. It fascinates me and doesn't let me go till I've tried it out! I think most of you guys understand me! 1
Gary Chastain Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago It is addictive to keep trying new ideas and develop new skills. Oh I get it, I’m watching buddy. 1
