Jürgen M. Posted November 2 Author Posted November 2 Got some primer on the bus! A little step forward! 6
Jürgen M. Posted November 3 Author Posted November 3 (edited) Now it's all white. Well, I mixed a bit of grey in to make it look a bit worn off and dirty. Then I tried to outline the color scheme. Didn't work out that well but good enough! And now the colorful part begins: Edited November 3 by Jürgen M. 4

Gary Chastain Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Truth be known, I bet the paint job on the 1:1 bus was done with cheap house paint and a brush, I think your paint job will represent the bus extremely well. 1 1

When the paintjob is finished I'll have to do the writing. 😬 Then the assembly. Will not be easy either. Still have to design and print a support for the interior. That's going to be another challenge. This is not at all easier than a truck model. 4
Jürgen M. Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 The yellow needed a bit of correction. Next colors in progress! 4
Biggu Posted November 4 Posted November 4 This is just plain cool! This is as or more unique than my oil distributor because it is the only one in the world ! Keep going JM !
Kanada Kustoms Posted November 4 Posted November 4 (edited) Coming along great! Edited November 4 by Kanada Kustoms 1

Jürgen M. Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 The color scheme is really a challenge! So many colors in different sequences, then aging and detailing! Some things are just not readable. I'll have to make a few more Screenshots of the movie! 2
Jürgen M. Posted Wednesday at 11:35 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 11:35 AM (edited) It's getting more colorful! I drilled out the headlights and printed sockets which I chromed with a pen and then put lenses on. The writing on the sides will be done with decals. I had to process each letter seperately in order to get the words lines up like on the film bus! I have meanwhile noticed that the outside walls are not quite correct concerning the distance of the upper and lower embossing lines. I won't be able to fit in the writing correctly but I certainly will NOT print them again! Hope it still looks good when finished! Next will be fitting in the windows which I cut out of a 0.5mm foil. After that I'll probably apply the rest of the decals and then it's final assembly. Wipers aren't printed yet, speakers are painted and curing, mirrors have to be made. The writing on the rear and the outlining of the yellow banners were done by hand! So was the writing on the front fenders! Edited Wednesday at 11:39 AM by Jürgen M. 3
Jürgen M. Posted Wednesday at 01:26 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 01:26 PM The hood and fenders are mounted on the chassis. Rear windows installed and drying. 2
Biggu Posted Wednesday at 03:16 PM Posted Wednesday at 03:16 PM You are Nailing this build !!! Incredibly unique. Very cool JM! 1 1
Gary Chastain Posted Wednesday at 04:33 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:33 PM Well it’s a first, never seen a graffiti paint job on a model build, ttooooo cool 1
BK9300 Posted Wednesday at 04:34 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:34 PM Terrific progress, Jurgen! Looks really good. 1
Jürgen M. Posted Wednesday at 05:18 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 05:18 PM Thanks guys! Copying the scheme on the bus takes lots of concentration! Still it's not totally identical but I hope the result will be satisfactory! 1
Jürgen M. Posted Thursday at 05:29 AM Author Posted Thursday at 05:29 AM The body is mounted and the interior is inserted. Wipers are added. Now I'm finishing the interior. I designed these connectors for the handrails. 3
Jürgen M. Posted Thursday at 06:14 AM Author Posted Thursday at 06:14 AM Mock-up of the front handrails: Ready for painting: The same will be fit in the rear and then I'll connect front and rear. 2
Jürgen M. Posted Thursday at 07:40 AM Author Posted Thursday at 07:40 AM Some progress on the interior: Now I have to add the long rails from rear to front. I'll put in only one support rod though. 3
Rockford Posted Thursday at 09:11 AM Posted Thursday at 09:11 AM When do you sleep Jürgen? I can't comprehend the speed of this build! Great job on the paint scheme, makes a change from trying to get everything perfectly sharp and straight. I don't think this will be the last Convoy build, I'll bet there's another lurking in the back of your mind. 1
Jürgen M. Posted Thursday at 10:02 AM Author Posted Thursday at 10:02 AM Thanks Steve! First of all, I've got this week off so no work keeping me from the bench! It actually will be the final build for my convoy. No more space for any more trucks on the 'Convoy' shelf! Anyway, I wouldn't know which one to build. It would either be a Peterbilt coe or an International coe, both of which I've got enough already. I'll surely keep building trucks though. Maybe one or the other from other movies! 1 1
Jürgen M. Posted Thursday at 10:07 AM Author Posted Thursday at 10:07 AM (edited) The handrails are in: The roof structure is attached, so is the rear part of the body! Still missing are turning signals on the front fenders, mirrors, writing decals on the sides, speakers on top and finally a lot of dust! Edited Thursday at 10:08 AM by Jürgen M. 3
Jürgen M. Posted Thursday at 11:41 AM Author Posted Thursday at 11:41 AM Hey guys, can anyone read what's written up on the roof? This is the best pic I could get! The First Word might be 'love' but I'm not sure! Thanks for any ideas! 1
Jürgen M. Posted Thursday at 12:29 PM Author Posted Thursday at 12:29 PM Cool. Thanks Steve! Now I can finish it! 1
