For Forum Members and Users -- Further Information on Our New Brand

Dear Friends,

This forum started in July of 2007. At that time, it was run by Harry Pristovnik and Gregg Hutchings as part of Model Cars Magazine. I signed on as technical help in 2009. Harry was our primary community manager until he fell ill, at which point I stepped in as community manager. I've been in that role ever since with major help from our moderators.

 

Gregg and I have agreed that it's time for the forum to start a new chapter in its life. Going forward, this forum will operate independently of Model Cars Magazine. We believe this will be best for both entities. Model Cars Magazine can concentrate on being its best, and we can explore new ideas.

 

What happens next?

We will be changing our name to Model Car Makers and I am resigning as Managing Editor to devote my attention to this forum. Our current moderation team will remain and we don't anticipate any major policy changes. Our rules of conduct have worked well in fostering a supportive, welcoming, and valuable community. We will continue working hard to keep it that way.

 

The biggest change is that we'll be moving to a new web address. Modelcarmakers.com is online and the rest of the forum will be migrating there soon.

 

Any internal and external links to the forum will be automatically redirected to the new forum for a few years. Eventually, you'll want to transition your bookmarks to the new site and we'll let you know when to make that change. We'll be working out some other technical matters, but this will be the biggest change. The forum will likely be offline for a day or two while we relocate to its new home and we'll announce that event ahead of time. We've been talking about new features and improvements to the forum for a while. We'll start implementing them after we get the forum settled on its new server.

 

I want to close by thanking all of you for being an essential part of our community. We have a fun and challenging hobby. It deserves to be shared, and we're honored to be one of the vehicles for doing that.
