ChainsawMike Posted Monday at 01:09 AM Posted Monday at 01:09 AM Anyone else have problems fitting the engine onto this kit? it really doesn't stay in place to glue and has problems with the firewall once putting the body onto the chassis.
FoMoCo66 Posted Monday at 01:18 AM Posted Monday at 01:18 AM I just looked at the one I built, I think i moved it forward by cutting open the slot inbetween the 2 wholes that the engine mounts in. I may be wrong about that because I dont have a unbuilt kit to look off. 1
bobss396 Posted Monday at 12:54 PM Posted Monday at 12:54 PM I usually make up provisions to pin engines and transmissions in place. Or add something to the mounts or make my own. 2
blizzy63 Posted Tuesday at 02:42 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:42 AM I built one as a gasser using the supplied SB Chevy engine/trans and straight front axle from a ‘55 Nomad kit. If I recall correctly, needed to Dremel the transmission tunnel down to set over the transmission properly. Also, I fashioned a transmission bracket from a scrap frame to help hold everything up. Also, the chassis had a bow to it that I had to heat-straighten to fit into the body properly. This kit was definitely a case of test-fit everything! 2

Actually, to correct myself: The problem with the transmission tunnel was between the interior tub and the top of the chassis fit at the trans tunnel. Some grinding down/away was needed.
bobss396 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago And people crow about how great reissues are. Clapped out molds never stop AMT from spitting them out. I just got a '50 Ford kit, the latest issue. I also have an older partial-kit issue that is night and day for fit and the amount of flash the new one has. But I'm working through it.
