Andria H Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Got an idea to do this with a Walmart exclusive kit after seeing this article on Lee Pratt’s 60s Buick LeSabre and remembering similar builds by the likes of Gene Winfield, Ray Fahrner, Dave Puhl, Richard Korkes, and the Alexander Brothers in old books/magazines. The scale 6 inch top chop was surprisingly easy to pull off, and the kit supplied custom nose/tail treatments were used. The wind wings are since deleted, with the A-pillars & rear buttresses filled in with a small batch of "sprue goo" I made to use up some old school AMT sprue and get the most out of a couple almost empty tubes of Testors glue. 2
Andria H Posted December 5 Author Posted December 5 Custom bodywork all molded in. This is a thin, sanded further, coat of Bondo glazing putty, so as to limit/avoid any shrinkage in the future. 1
Andria H Posted December 5 Author Posted December 5 Primered/sealed and mocked up on wheels/tires. A steering shaft and lots of chrome will occupy the underhood area and decorate the 428 big block V8. Since these photos, I sanded it a bit more and laid down a coat of Tamiya metallic red.
