Nick Winter Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Well my Mom's birthday is coming up and I thought I'd build her, The duster she had, a 1971 Plymouth Duster Coupe Blue on blue with a Slant six and automatic. So far I have collected some of the parts that I needed. So far I have painted all the blue and my dad dug out an old slant six he had which is in rough I repeat Rough condition and is missing a lot of parts any way time for some pictures. Here Birthday is on July 11th so I have 37 or less days to finish. First picture: A polaroid of the real thing. And the rest of the pictures of the replica
Nick Winter Posted June 5, 2009 Author Posted June 5, 2009 nice job, what engine is going into it? Thanks and a slant 6.
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Great job on the paint, Nick. Your mom's gonna love it. Keep up the great work.

Uh the standard was still the anemeic 170. We also had a Few " Gold Dusters" too. They were very hard to get and we were on alocation for them . Also we even had to bribe the factory a couple of times for a " Mod Top" , remember them on the Barracuda ? Ed Shaver
Nick Winter Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 Thanks fopr the info Ed. I found out a little more about the old Duster, it was my great grandmother's and after she passed it was givin to my grandfather who had a chevy Impala at the time so he gave it to my grandmother who had a Plymouth Scamp at the time, my mom at the time had a tired old 1949 plymouth, so my grandfather gave her the car.
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Sounds like that car had quite a family history, Nick. I like stories about cars like that. Your mom's gonna love it. Keep up the great work, 'cuz.

Nick Winter Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 Well found out some more about this car and a 1971 Plymouth Duster my Mom owned, She used to race dirt track around here and she raced a 1971 duster that she and my granfather and uncles cramed a 440 into, she also used to use my granfathers 70 dodge d-250 he had that he barely used, it aparantly had a 360 that my grandpa took from a fury and shoe horned into his truck. My mom used to haul her car on her car trailer down to the track every saturday night for the race. Man dusters and Mopars run in the family I guess.
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 (edited) Great job on the detailing, 'cuz. I like the CB radio. My mom had a beautiful '87 Olds Cutlass Supreme Broughm. I'd love to build it. Edited June 11, 2009 by Mustang3.8

Chuck Most Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Thanks. I would also like to do one but then I have about 10 other tv and movie cars on my build list. That, and you'd have to open the driver's door and find a resin figure of a balding, paunchy middle aged dude and pose him to look like he was pushing it
