chris coller Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 (edited) Well since my WIP thread was short here are some pictures of the completed model. Well mostly complete anyway. Tamiya kit, paint(decanted and shot through my airbrush) and a Studio27 photo etch set. I just have to add some more photo etch fasteners. Edited June 18, 2009 by chris coller
Jon Cole Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 You did a GREAT job on that 956! Now I want to start* working on mine! * (nothing here ever gets finished!)
Nick F40 Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 ohh yeah, I really have to finish that Quattro....
935k3 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 (edited) Great job Chris. Did you paint the red areas?. I have to get around to doing th Bontempi version. I have this decal sheet. Here is one built by somebody else. Edited June 20, 2009 by 935k3
chris coller Posted June 20, 2009 Author Posted June 20, 2009 Yeah, Dale I painted most of the red first then laid the decals over top. Those decals look like a nightmare! Good luck with that.
modeler1 Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Very well done! Looks much better than the box art suggests.
Chillyb1 Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 I really like this one, too. It was used in a recent magazine article to illustrate decaling techniques. And now I really want one. I'm really impressed by your detail work in the engine bay. Lots of stuff going on in there and you've done an excellent job of differentiating among all the different parts and assemblies. The tire markings are a really neat touch also. Is there any convincing way to do something about the panel lines? Or is there any point to doing anything with them. I always want to accent lines, though sometimes it is very easy to overdo it.
chris coller Posted June 21, 2009 Author Posted June 21, 2009 You can use craft markers from Michael's or A.C. Moore. They are called PIGMA MICRON. markers and come in different size tips. The one I have to enhance the lines is being stubborn and doesn't want to work on the smooth paint.
JHDrew Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 That is some very clean work. One to be proud of and thanks for sharing.
Daniel Peterson Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I'd like to say that's an outstanding model, but when you compare it to your usual outstanding work, I'm not sure what to call it...outstandinger maybe??
chris coller Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 Thanks guys. Due to economic woes and lack of transportation sold it on ebay for $100. All is well that ends well, meaning I will be mobile in the next few days. Ahhhhh the freedom of the open road.

rollover Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Great job Chris. Did you paint the red areas?. I have to get around to doing th Bontempi version. I have this decal sheet. Here is one built by somebody else. I have the same decal and car in my "to do" closet. Do you have a color picked out for the yellow yet?
935k3 Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 I have the same decal and car in my "to do" closet. Do you have a color picked out for the yellow yet? The yellow should be brighter than that pic. Tamiya's TS-16 or Krylon Sun Yellow(these two are identical shades) would be fine.
