ewaskew Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) hello everyone I am building a car for someone that will match his real car an El Camino SS. White car Black racing stripes.I want to paint the stripes on instead of decals It is all Tamya paint from the can and in the past I have used model master clear gloss that looks yello overtime on white. Will tamya clear do the same thing? The reason I ask is when I mask off for the stripes it would be better to wet sand the white to keep it from pulling off when I remove the tape I'm using the green automotive tape and tacking it lighty to help prevent pulling paint. Sorry this is so long I just dont want to screw the paint up. Thanks for any tips Earl MilleR Edited June 30, 2009 by ewaskew

Prep sand and clean the body, spray your base white LET IT DRY!!!!!! After its dry, mask for your stripes, shoot a thin coat of CLEAR...Then shoot your black stripes....let dry for a while and pull your tape off...back over itself...then shoot your clear and now let it dry....polish next week.....Enjoy!!!!! Yes, absolutley! This seals the edges of your tape and prevents bleed-unders. And to answer your original question, no, the Tamiya clear should not yellow. The MM you used was probably the enamel. That stuff is nasty! Lol! Good luck....lets see some pics!
ewaskew Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 I'll try to get some photos on when I get it done. Thanks Earl
