The Modeling Hermit Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 My wife got me a Revell 63 Impala SS for Father's Day. I was thinking of some way to build it that would be different. I remember a car that I saw when I was a teenager. It was a gold 63 SS with a tan colored interior. What set this car apart was what was under the hood. It was a "six". It's the only one I've ever seen, and I would like to model it. Now that I'm done with all of the dribble, here's my question. Is there a good six made for a Revell 63?
george 53 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 To be honest witcha Doug, I don't think there is a 63 Chevy with a 6, unless you go all the way back to the 63 AMT Chevy II Nova kit. Try the 6 that cames in the Galaxie Limited 48 Chevy. Or the 51 Chevy's. ALL chevy in-line 6's look alike anyway, so who'd know? I THINK that the 60 Chevy truck by AMT has a 6 in it too. Yep, just checked, and it DOES! so do the 37 coupe/convert kits of the Chevy by AMT. There may be more 6's out there, but these came to mind right quick.I hope this helps!
Steven Zimmerman Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 There are more out there than you think; The 'SS" was a trim option in 63,available with any engine combo. The reason you don't see many is because most of the 6 cylinder cars have had V-8 transplants over the years.............Steve Zimmerman
george 53 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Now that I think about it Doug, the SS trim package was available on ANY style,as it was JUST a trim package. I don't beleive it was necessary to order a V-8, that's one reason your 63 was unique. I was under the understanding that the SS package wasn't standardized as comeing with the BIG BLOCKS till 68, before that time you could order the SS option with a 6 cylinder. Maybe one of the guys knows better? How bout it fellas?
