B_rad88 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 (edited) ok, as some of you fellas know, i am building a entry in the drift build off! the model in progress is the amt/ertl jaguar xj220! i am making it into the twr jaguar xj220c! my question is, how can i make the naca air duct in the rear window? Thank you very much for your help! Brandon Edited July 21, 2009 by KUZTOMMODELS88
dwc43 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Exacto knife to cut out the triangle. Mount a piece of clear styrene to the bottom of the triangle. Then a small upright piece to close it in. If functional, you'll have to make a round hose fitting placed at the base of the triangle inside the car.
B_rad88 Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 ok, thank you for the info! and what about the sides of the vent?
dwc43 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 It should have some curve to it. Here's a pic of the ones we use on our race car. Look 3/4 down the page. http://www.stockcarproducts.com/brkduct.htm This one tells you how they work. http://www.stockcarproducts.com/naca.htm
dwc43 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 By the way, the are all a little different in shape. Like the Mustang hoods are flat on the bottom with the opening to the rear of the triangle so they don't realy have a side so to speak. But this should give you some ideas on how to build them.
Scalefinishes Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 For the price, I would try here. http://www.modern-motorsports.net/ncat1.html Jameston
dwc43 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Thanks. That's a good site. I marked it for some up coming builds I have planned.
