Ashhh1991 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 hey everybody i have a vt commodore metal model race car that i have modded and i now have primed it but the primer is bubbling in little spots and like not sticking to the metal, i used kill rust metal primer i dunno if that has anything to do with it, i also sanded it back till there was no shine on the original paint job, if thats any use? any tips would be sick. cheers!
E St. Kruiser50 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 i used kill rust metal primer i dunno if that has anything to do with it... cheers! Hey Mate Yeah, that did it. It bubbles, that's how it neutralizes the rust. The only problem is that steel rusts, and your die-cast is made of zinc, and doesn't rust - OOPS . Get all that off there and get some lacquer-based primer down, and you'll be a much happier model builder .
Brendan Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Go to an automotive store and get some etching primer. Spray that down and then spray the normal auto primer over the top. Then put down the color.
