FujimiLover Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I wish to repaint a Murcielago body I have from pearl green to pearl white. What's the best pearl-white available in rattle-can? I know, I don't have an airbrush yet and it'll be a while before getting one. I've tried a pearl white from Testors I think and it was almost a flat-white, didn't really have a nice look to it. What about their one-coat can's? Please, I'd like some suggestions on how to get a nice smooth, glossy shiny pearl white finish. BTW, this is a 1/43 scale plastic body I'm considering repainting. I love the pearl green that's already on there, but I still keep seeing pearl white. Any suggestions? Thank you!
crazyjim Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I use Plasticoat white primer and then use Tamiya TS65 clear pearl over the white.
Tom Kren Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I use Plasticoat white primer and then use Tamiya TS65 clear pearl over the white. Same here.
MikeMc Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 TS 65 over your white base.....or mix some flake into TS13!!
FujimiLover Posted August 22, 2009 Author Posted August 22, 2009 Thank's guys, I will try that on a spare body before messing up a body I want to do.
E St. Kruiser50 Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 (edited) I AGREE WITH EVERYONR HERE - JUST DON'T CLEAR COAT IT OR IT WILL INSTANTLY YELLOW AND OVER TIME JUST GET WORSE. THE ONLY CLEAR THAT WORKS, THAT I'VE FOUND, IS A TWO-PART URETHANE MADE FOR MARINE USE. BOAT DECKS AND HULLS. WHEN YOU OPEN THE CAN, IT'S CLEAR - JUST LIKE WATER, UNLIKE HOK UC35, OR PPG, OR ANY OTHER'S. The product is called "GLISTEN PC" and it's made by a company called "RESTO MOTIVE". They also make a product that's well known called "POR 15" for neutrlizing rust. Luckily they sell it here at a local auto paint store, but if you go on-line you can find it there too. That's where I found it after a car painter friend recommended it. Edited August 22, 2009 by Treehugger Dave
FujimiLover Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 I'll have to see if I can dig it out of my paint supply but I did try one pearl white and it looked to flat and dull to me. No real shine, gloss, or pearl finish.
