ProStr33t Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Well bought some paint yetserday and realized the primer was enamel and the color and clear was laquer... MY Local HS does not carry a laquer primer.. will I be OK using a laquer color on top of a enamel primer?
MrObsessive Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 In a word NO!!! NEVER put lacquer paint over an enamel primer!! You'll end up with a wrinkled, crazed mess! The reverse would work..............try your local hardware/auto supply houses for some Duplicolor or other type auto primer/paints. The key is LIGHT coats! Don't try to put lacquer paints on too heavy or the above result will occur.

Custom Hearse Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I use ColorPlace primer from Wal-Mart, and I've had no problems painting lacquer or enamel on it. And it costs like $1.00.
