pstreet Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Evil looking car you've got there. Please tell me that there will be an occupant or two.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 There might be . . . we'll see when we get there . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 I'm making a bit of progress this morning before I head out to work . . . Still tinkering with the weathering . . . trying to get the right blend of rust & dust . . . and I also put on some graphics . . . Headlight bucket reflectors are watch parts, of course . . .
Raul_Perez Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Oh yeah...this one is coming along very nicely!! The flamable, toxic and atomic radiation decals fit right in!! Did you use Press Tights for the lettering? Later,
Dr. Cranky Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 Yes, my friend, I use Woodland Scenic rub on graphics . . . a couple of sheets will go a long ways . . .
Janne Herajärvi Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 That is one of the best weatheringjobs what ive seen in hot rods. I usually like smooth, clean and polished paintjobs, but this is just great
Dr. Cranky Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 Thanks, Janne--I just think weathering is fun. Part of my background in modeling cars comes from all the years of building tanks and airplanes . . .
Janne Herajärvi Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Well i almost guessed that backgroud Lots of finelooking models in your workshop. Keep up good work!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 Again, thanks . . . All right, folks, a bit of progress tonight . . . I realized the horns didn't look right where they were so I found a better spot for them! now the horns say it all, don't they? More progress soon. Thanks for tuning in and watching!!!
Raul_Perez Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I don't know...I kind of liked the horns where they were... Either way, this is certainly one cool build!! Later,
Dr. Cranky Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 Thanks for the input, amigos . . . Here are some more progress pics . . . I just have the interior tub left and the front, side and rear windshields . . . and this one will be done . . . The rust of the grill is just about right too . . . I've got to put a bit more gray on that helmet!
cruz Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 WOW! Nobody out there does weathering like you bro, this is phenomenal!!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 Thank you, friends, for your comments and inspiration. Stay tuned in for more progress, for this one is just about done although tragedy almost struck when I went to place the interior tub into the body. It took several attempts and broken pieces to get everything to fit just right. Luckily with a little bit of touch up paint you could hardly tell the difference. Stay tuned in for one final round of eye candy. Again, thanks . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 Here are the finished pics of OLD RED. I almost threw it out this afternoon when I thought I had lost it with the interior, but I'm glad I didn't . . . I used the airbrush to give it a final detailing . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 Just a few more . . . you know there's always more . . . Of course I just realized I still have to install the door handles! LOL!
vizio93 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 wow man you could just put the body in a show and you'd definatley win . can't wait to see that in a junk yard diaroma
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Wow. That is one sweet lookin' rod.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 Thanks, I really appreciate the comments . . .
Raul_Perez Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Very nice, Virgil!! Are you going to build any kind of a base for it? What's next??? Later,
made007 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 i like the horns where they were, but it looks good
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Virgil, I gotta say this for you. Your builds are always interesting Maybe a little out in left field sometimes, but I like it.You have one unique way of looking at things It's always a pleasure seeing what you've come up with. Keep it up.
